Myaljar is one of the last towns on the Jaisalmer border, which at 464 km is one of the longest borders that India shares with Pakistan and the BSF has to patrol all 500 kilometres every day at different shifts. The village was one of the key locations for the 1965 Indo-Pak war.

Apart from the security concerns, they also lead a very difficult life which is filled with isolation and extreme weather conditions.

Yogender Singh Rathore, Deputy Inspector General, said, “The BSF has proved itself to be a trained and professional force." He added, “The force has contributed to every operation—whether it was the 1971 war, the Kargil war, Operation Sindoor, anti-Naxal operations, or internal security efforts in Punjab, Kashmir, and the Northeast.”

Manisha Meena, a 24-year-old commander is one of a handful of women commanders on the base. She said that, "serving the nation is a pride for us and because of us citizens are sleeping well."
