00:00Oh
00:02Yo, you want to see something cool
00:30Yeah, that was pretty cool, I guess
00:42Well hello everybody if you were watching the show just now welcome back to those of you who come back for those of you
00:48Just joined us welcome to the f1 show from the principality. I'm here with jensen and simon. Welcome guys. How are you feeling today?
00:55I'm good. Thank you. How good is it to be back in Monaco?
00:57Awesome, isn't it? It is unbelievable. We love it here. It's busy as ever
01:02Is it me or is the harbour? It's much busier than we usually see huge boats in this year
01:07You're staying on one of them. Well, you know Monaco every year the popularity of formula one grows and you know
01:11The fans are here to prove that another thing that's iconic about the monaco grand prix is of course
01:17The structure behind us the red bull energy station, which is a floating set up a three-story floating setup
01:22And we're going to take you guys on a little tour simon take us off right?
01:26Come on. I tell you I might take you off the edge of the harbour wall, but yeah, come on in here
01:30We can bypass this cues. Is that okay? So now you can see the cues are already forming
01:34We used to have there used to be big media drinks here on a on a trip up going in trip
01:41Thursday evening and yeah, this is it
01:43This is the entrance as you can see hello. How are we all in here though? It's all hospitality
01:48So this is the kind of staff are in there and the team are in there then it gets more vip
01:54I believe as you go further up. So i've never been allowed on that roof
01:57No, apparently that's what they say. It does see that umbrella in the middle there. That one's that one's ladies and bees
02:04I've never been allowed up there. I presume you have have you a couple of times
02:07Good in there get your coffees look they got fancy cars and everything. We're going to talk about these hyper cars a little bit later
02:12Very fancy cars. I think we should head up to the pool though because that really is one of the most iconic places here
02:18Where we've seen so many drivers dive in for that incredible moment when they've won the grand prix
02:22But it is such a cool place to hang out. It is especially because simon told me he's brought his uh swims swim shorts
02:29Did he? I thought he was going in like that. Not allowed in not allowed in i've got very expensive equipment on the back of my belt here
02:36Which unfortunately is going to preclude you jensen button from shoving me in the pool at least i think it is
02:43Quite often we have some acts down here. I'll let you climb the stairs before me pete. Yeah, yeah, come on pete
02:47Turning the camera it gives me an opportunity to climb the stairs. There you go
02:51Yeah, that's max performing there this morning the crowd wasn't biggie too big this morning
02:56But it's uh it will fill up later on because there's parties every night up here
03:01And let's move up here
03:04So we know who the dj is this evening
03:07We know the one at your hotel. Yeah, just like to wait till one o'clock in the morning
03:12I have a front row seat to the dj in our hotel
03:16Arman van buren, isn't it?
03:18Yeah
03:20On the stage
03:22Okay, well, which is great. I'm talking about your hotel now jensen. Yes
03:25Now tell me about this pool like we've seen the likes of
03:29Vettel, webber, ricardo, perez. I think as well. Yeah diving into it
03:35Do you think that had you've been a red bull driver winning here you would have want to dive into that pool?
03:40Would I 100% I would have jumped off the side
03:43Winning in monaco. It's it's such a big event here. You know, you win the monaco grand prix
03:48You're not just winning for yourself your team
03:50It's that whole of monaco that comes alive when you cross that finish line all the boats get on their horns
03:55So yeah, it's such a special atmosphere and you celebrate it together
03:59And this is just cool. Every team should have a pool. I feel do you not think yeah, I mean this
04:04When did they start doing this? I mean it must have been what 10 15 years ago that we've been on this one and it is
04:11Unbelievable. They have to tow it in with tugboats and get it all rigged up at least a couple of weeks in advance
04:16But it's an amazing amazing structure. It really is now you've seen that the best ever pool dive though
04:22Our very own craig slater. It was a sharp more than a dive
04:29Unbelievable
04:31Very well jensen that was it and that was that actually was quite costly because he had his microphone on him as well
04:36Which is why I told you not throw me in tell us about 2009 tell us what it feels as you said when the the horns are going on
04:42On the boats and you win round this because it's iconic
04:45I should imagine it is one of your more special wins it is
04:48You know, they always say that monaco is one on a saturday in qualifying, but you still gotta cross the finish line first on sunday
04:54I did that. I went into park ferme
04:56You know, you're supposed to stop in front of the crown prince, but I didn't I parked in the wrong place
05:02So, um, I ended up running to the finish line. Look at that
05:06I did a duathlon that day and I would recommend it to any winner here because you get the whole crowd
05:11Involved with it, but no, it's it's very special and then the pie starts from there really
05:16It does it's just getting going here. In fact, that's why we've got back downstairs because as I mentioned
05:20We're not vip enough at the moment. I hopefully we can head back up there a little bit later
05:24Let's run through the day shall we let's get to the sky pad crooner coffee there
05:28Thanks ever so much simon marvellous view up here and a great view of a lot of action today karoon chandok
05:35That track was busy. Yeah, the harbor was bathed in sunshine as the two mclaren drivers walked in along with
05:41There's ferrari one two and fp2, but can they stay there when we get to a crucial qualifying tomorrow?
05:48Yeah, I mean, I mean this was left field wasn't it we were not expecting ferrari to be quick around here jensen
05:54Their weakness has been low speed corners. So how have they managed to get it right today?
05:57Even their drivers say that they won't said they weren't going to be quick today
06:00So, um, yeah, I mean looking at the speed traces, uh, and the sectors where they are quick
06:06They might be running a little bit more power today than than others
06:09Uh, but still the car looks good out on track and they're able to get their front tire working
06:14Which is the big thing we heard from james vows and williams a lot of teams are struggling for
06:18Front tire grip and getting it in the working range whereas it looks like the ferrari can so it has a really good front end
06:23You need that around a street circuit. So I think that's where their strength lies at the moment
06:27And for oscar a terrific recovery having put it in the barriers just shows you where his mind's at right now
06:32He's got full confidence in himself hasn't he he has and look a little moment like that can happen
06:37It was quite an easy mistake to make a little lock up and then you end up in the wall
06:40But it didn't really cost him anything in terms of time put the red flag out immediately
06:44He came in changed the nose new new front wing and then he was straight back out there and quick again
06:48So he's clearly confident happy in that car and around here. That's what you need
06:51You need confidence you need to be able to know that where you when you stick the car and it's going to follow what you're doing
06:55So he seems to be happy and that's what we need quick word on max for stopping
06:59I wasn't that wasn't a great day was it for red bull having the racing bulls up the road
07:04Yeah, they seem to be struggling and it does look like when you watch him drive
07:08A lot of understeer in that car and one thing max for step and doesn't like it enough one car is understeer
07:12So, uh, hopefully they can do a bit of some sort of some set of tweaks and get it more in the window
07:16Well, he certainly needs some tweaks and another driver who had an uneventful day was george russell
07:20He was sixth in fp1 and 12 in fp2. Let's hear from him and some other drivers
07:24Well, I imagine a very intense day out there. How was it? Patience was required at some points. It looked like he has always intense around monica
07:33I mean track isn't quite big enough for 20 f1 cars. I think the strategy team said if you're all like perfectly
07:42Separated is only like two and a half seconds between every single car. So
07:46You know as our mate yuki says traffic paradise around the track and that was kind of how it was today
07:51But you know, it's always amazing driving around here. We weren't very quick today, but tomorrow
07:57Usually it's the main day, but this weekend with the mandated to stop it will be interesting and you've seen some teams already throw away the hard tire
08:05Which was a bit of a surprise to us. So that sort of shows there
08:09Yeah, well, they're looking likely to do a different plan to what we were expecting. So
08:15It'll be interesting. Okay. Have you got the feeling you want out the car the tires behaving themselves?
08:20No, not really to be honest in terms of pure performance probably being our slowest friday. So
08:27But to be honest, we had a bad friday here last year and we were only I think attempt from pole in the end or something
08:31So kind of all still to play for and i'm still
08:36pretty excited to see how sunday's going to pan out so
08:39Even if you know, we're not in the top five top three tomorrow. I still think there may be
08:45A bit of a chance on sunday, especially the first time being as it is this year. So
08:51Yeah, we'll keep our hopes alive. Okay. Well enjoy your evening studying data and onboard laps
08:57It's a head-scratcher isn't it this this mercedes you don't know what you're going to get from week to week or session to session
09:03Yeah, and I think um
09:05It's it is surprising as george said last year. They were nowhere here on a friday. So there's every opportunity for them
09:10uh, it was nice to see
09:12um
09:13Antonelli getting
09:14In the mix a little bit more being a bit more aggressive in fp2 because he really struggled in fp1
09:19Um, but he's doing as he should as there's a new guy in f1 around monaco. He's slowly building up to it
09:23But george's pace, you know, we expect more from george and I think we'll see a bit more tomorrow
09:27Yeah, really surprising from them. I think we expected maybe some more from them coming into this weekend
09:32As you say antonelli's first time around in an f1 car
09:34It's always going to be daunting
09:36You're always going to make small mistakes and we saw loads of drivers making lots of mistakes today
09:40You know whether it was hitting barriers creating traffic
09:43There was a lot for them to deal with out there and I think he handled it quite well
09:46But of course pace is lacking and that's a concern for them as of right now
09:50We were talking about this prior to the second session there
09:52It was after that after the first session. I keep forgetting which shows I've been on which I haven't but with regards to george in the lower formula
09:59He was so consistent very rarely crashed
10:02You know a lot of the reasons for that actually was because
10:05His parents have sacrificed so much to get him into formula one quite often
10:09He said I just didn't want my dad to be be cross with me if I were angry
10:12So he'd often forfeit a couple of places as he's moved through the formula 19 times in the top five last year
10:19Consistency and yet he stepped up another level this year. Would you say jensen?
10:24It's it's really difficult to say, you know, he's been up against lewis hamilton the last few years
10:29And he's been extremely quick very very impressive. You know i've been lewis's teammate in the past
10:33I know how quick he is and how difficult he used to be
10:37On any given day, so I was impressed with him then
10:40But becoming the team leader if you like this year it is a different role within a team
10:46And he's fulfilled it so well, so no, it's it's really good to see how he's progressed
10:50And and it's not the easiest seems like not the easiest car to drive around a place like this
10:54But he's still very you know kind of positive about the team and where the team could could be this weekend
10:59Okay, let's head back up to karoon a few infringements to get to the bottom of career
11:06Yeah, thank you very much simon ollie barely i'm out of the way go past however, it's not normal conditions
11:11So he's gone to see the stewards for failure bought your lap don't overtake another car and that's the key here
11:17That he did overtake another car is there a mitigating circumstance that the williams was going so slowly
11:23Even ollie bearman going slowly himself still overtook him
11:27I don't think he'll get away with that. I think when there's a red flag
11:31You know right from carting you're not allowed to overtake anyone else
11:35So I think the normal penalty is five places isn't it
11:38We've had a look at the penalty guidelines at the stewards abide by and it is a five place grid drop
11:44If you overtake another car in free practice under a red flag and it looks to us that the red flag was showing
11:51And ollie bearman had time to slow down react and not make that overtake
11:55So whilst I think there's a bit of sympathy for what happened with ollie in qualifying and the red flag in imola
12:00Today the stewards might not have too much sympathy for him. I was gonna say crafting
12:05After everything that happened last weekend in imola another red flag you'll be going what what's going on?
12:10Yeah, well this time around
12:13I think in in imola he was between control panels when the red flag came out
12:17And he didn't know that there was a red flag until he got to the next control panel by which time
12:21He'd finished his lap and that was a mitigating circumstance and has by the way still haven't had a reply from the fia as to why that lap
12:27Was deleted here. He could clearly see the control panel. He should have slowed down
12:32He shouldn't have overtaken another car and that looks like a five place grid penalty. I think for ollie
12:36The flag came onto his uh his dash after the line didn't uh we go. Okay. Thanks crofty after the break
12:42We're gonna have a look at crofty's new film. Well, he's in it anyway the the f1 movie
12:46Hey stay tuned
13:08See like straight talk straight scenario no sugar
13:11Why are you here sonny?
13:24When you look in the mirror you see this rough and tumble old-school cowboy
13:34Doesn't take orders goes his own way, huh
13:42A lone wolf
13:47Well, I've news for you
13:51Formula one is a team sport it always was
13:58Listen, let's get this straight. We all lose our jobs if you can't pull off a miracle
14:05No pressure, no
14:07The only question here is why does sunny haze come back to f1?
14:14I think it's really wonderful that apex are given second chances to the elderly
14:19It's all right. You're just worried. I'm quicker than you
14:21You're making a mistake
14:29Thinking I'm just gonna be some grateful kid who'll bend the knee to an old-timer
14:33I never should have pulled you into this
14:36Down the inside contact
14:40That's the other driver you say he was old he not that old that's a handsome man right there
14:48What's he doing plan c be ready
14:52He's got hope for some lucky brakes
14:54Hope it's not a strategy anything else professor try fast
15:02Ever seen a miracle not yet
15:07How do you think I feel if you die on the truck
15:10Relapse
15:12Relapse the lifetime
15:31Well, we've made it up onto the energy station cinema seats
15:35That was a great little trailer wasn't it what do you guys think of that crofty made the trailer
15:39Amazing because of that am I right in thinking as well that the love interest is based on bernie collins
15:48She's gonna love that if that is the case isn't it?
15:50I think it is I don't know
15:51I don't want to give any plot details away
15:53But I think that's the case
15:54There's certainly a lot of tension though isn't there
15:56Absolutely absolutely it's fantastic
15:57I think the racing scenes are supposed to be unbelievable
16:00I mean we've watched them for the last two years filming and uh yeah they are unbelievable
16:06I'm very excited about seeing it myself the good thing is they also did other types of racing as well didn't they
16:11So they were at daytona 24 hours filming uh as well
16:14So i'm really really excited about it the action scenes we'll call them well
16:18We are gonna have to wait a little bit longer
16:20I think it comes out 25th of june in the uk so not too long to have to wait
16:24But i'll tell you who didn't have to wait it's the drivers and the teepees
16:27They were out to see it in the cinema on wednesday evening
16:48Yeah hollywood you know it's it's it's cool you know and it just puts it in a different light you know presents it in a different way for us
16:54Everything obviously is always super serious you know super competitive
16:58Honestly beautiful movie well done to f1 well done to you know all the crew and everyone
17:02The producers that have worked on that movie i think it's uh honestly fantastic
17:06I got into this cinema room and i didn't know what to expect we know this sport so much
17:13That you are trying to be over analytical and everything and i had no idea what the storytelling would be
17:17They're saying sonny hayes isn't a husband he's a never was
17:30If the last thing i do is drive that car i will take that life man a thousand times
17:36I liked it a lot it's uh it's very immersive every single details of the sound of you know lock up and
17:45Everything it just it describes really well and exactly how how you hear in a helmet
17:50Yeah you know you almost get the goosebumps from from the movements
17:54I sort of rate films in the amount of goosebumps moments that i had and i had three or four of them
17:58You plus him boom it was all very authentic which was refreshing to see that reflects f1 pretty nicely
18:07Storytelling is really cool um and the images are just incredible
18:12A cool storyline and and like inspirational for um young people coming into it you know to like uh
18:18Not be too arrogant not be too overconfident but have the confidence you know a lot of different things
18:23Uh for me what they've done is what they promised they would do which is really capture what i think
18:27It makes our sport incredibly special in a way that is really understandable i think by
18:31The world expecting to see some some proper racings and we saw some proper racing
18:37i really want to thanks everyone about our ecosystem and it's the first time there is such an incredible
18:44integration between in a movie and the real action on the tracks
18:53and i'm delighted to say that the star of the show uh brad pitt's stunt double david croft has
19:01managed to meld his way through the crowds here uh yeah they were backed up ten a bit when you star
19:07in a hollywood movie ladies the crowd just just part do they yes they do is it going to be an oscar
19:13nomination for you uh well i don't know i don't know what piastri thought about it to be fair
19:17lovely stuff so come on take us inside it what did you do um and how much you in it okay so martin
19:24and myself are rather typecast in this film because we are the commentators and um we we've been into
19:31a studio with joe kaczynski who is an amazing director and an absolute genius to work with and have put in
19:37something like 20 hours worth of voiceover uh on this and first of all just commentating on some some
19:44rough footage but then we see the footage take shape and it's real life racing where the apex gp
19:50cars sonny hayes and uh and joshua pierce have kind of been stitched into the real life racing so
19:55what you're seeing is real action and we're commentating on real action and it's been a
19:59proper thrill i must admit from start to finish so you weren't actually acting then well no i was
20:04you just being yourself yeah yeah i've got an equity card from this so don't don't start jensen you
20:14know drama row level equity card we're there now notes crafty i was going to say that we always say
20:20that they should let you out of the booth a little bit more but when we do let you out the booth you
20:24steal our roles in the in the movie you know we did try in the booth though we did all three of us
20:29tried yeah to get into the movie on the grid and silverstone we didn't i don't think i don't think
20:35we did anything but get into trouble so tell us how you make it into a movie well well let's let's
20:39just tell the viewers first these three on the grid at silverstone tried to follow brad pitt
20:44to get into the movie and they've had to really edit quite tightly the bit where brad pitt walks
20:49that's not true from the top to the back he came to us and said hello yeah that's right he did and
20:54they didn't want us to overpower the movie and that scene so what you need to get into a movie like
20:59this is lewis hamilton uh in all honesty lewis uh is an executive producer toto waltz an executive
21:05producer there's a lot of f1 influence obviously because it's a very realistic film and lewis said to
21:10the producers and jokuzinski if you want authentic commentary go and get martin and crofty which is
21:16absolutely the best recommendation for a job i have ever had we don't have friends in the right
21:20places guys unfortunately steve and his boys stick together though that's how that's how it goes on
21:25this but what i would say i've not seen the whole film but i have obviously seen the racing bits and
21:29they are exceptional they've done an amazing job and if you don't have to be a plane geek to like top gun
21:36you don't have to be a formula one fan to like this film you will you will watch it and you're so
21:41immersed in it you will want to be an f1 driver again in your part for the first time you know
21:45for you guys but they've just done the most realistic authentic deep down dive into what it's
21:52like to drive an f1 car and put it onto the big screen i cannot wait to see the whole thing yeah
21:57it's actually not your first movie is it no it's not i don't like to talk about it no it's planes the
22:01one above cars oh yeah oh you are you with the blimp in that the airship yeah okay great uh let's move
22:08it on uh we're going to talk hyper cars now uh that's actually actually gay but as opposed to
22:14hyperactive i couldn't i could resist it a lift to that premiere in a very special one the amg one
22:20this is obviously f1 technology in a road car as well as an f1 engine that's it isn't it your f1
22:32engine the first ever car that i drove was a 2015 mercedes f1 yeah and this is the engine that
22:40is it was in that car so it's so cool i mean for me this car is like crazy to think it's road legal
22:48because it's just so quick
22:50that is wild that is that is insane
23:07you drive a hyper car for a living don't you i do drive a hyper car for a living that one looks
23:12unbelievable i have to say that is very cool i mean andy cowl i think was involved wasn't he
23:16in the engine for that oh yes so it's amazing all these formula one teams coming out with these
23:21hyper cars they are in fact the aston martin uh valhalla that was actually debuted on the circuit
23:27uh this morning i think with fernando and onto being behind us please have a look uh at this
23:32absolute beast this is the rb 17 this was adrian newey designed only 50 of them five million dollars
23:39a pop active suspension being that he's the guru of active suspension as well you i wouldn't mind
23:45go in that either or owning one this isn't his first type of car is it no he also did the the
23:51valkyrie yeah he's done that yeah what do you think of that one something you've got to say about
23:55all of these hyper cars that they look so aerodynamic i mean it's barely you can barely call that a
23:59windscreen it's more like a canopy it just looks fantastic just like the amg oh it's amazing and i
24:04can imagine seeing on the king's road doing seven miles an hour i could as well so who do we might need
24:09to get crofty seeing he's got the right friends in all the right places to get us some keys so we can
24:13take one of these for a spin pick it yeah that's right okay speaking of hypercars natalie's somewhere
24:19in the harbor with another one
24:23thank you simon yes i'm over here on this incredible yacht sarastar but have a look at this
24:30absolutely beautiful mclaren hypercar the solus gt i mean it is incredible
24:39and the man that can tell me a little bit more about it is the yacht's owner tom claren good to
24:44see you the first question i need to ask you tom is how on earth did you get it on here so we just
24:50use the crane and we load the car in italy then we say to monaco like it's giving us the opportunity to
24:55create an incredible set of images the car is very exceptional one of 25 in the world mclaren solus gt
25:01and you know i organized a special event for you know exceptional people from all around the world and
25:06since four years we are creating you know something very unique in monaco with car
25:10exhibition but also f1 pilots and happenings every day and may i be as naff enough to ask how much it
25:16costs oh this guy is about five million euro small change yeah it's okay but um you know like only 25
25:24yeah you can go ahead we can just don't lean on it right how do you get in it can you just give me a
25:28little tool let's go let's go let's have a look here like the handle okay wow so we have a handle
25:38here so it's a one-seater it's been inspired by f1 in terms of specifications and design it's a track
25:45only car and you can see the steering wheel here and what makes it even more special is that this is
25:52the airton senna edition with the quote here and the anniversary over there and i'll tell you one
25:57thing i know about this car is that martin brundle's lovely daughter charlie actually helped with
26:02delivery so it's got a connection to the sky team amazing i'm happy to have you guys what kind of
26:08speeds does it do oh i would have to check with my team for that but it's close to 100 1000 horsepower
26:13for only 1000 kilos okay i mean it's absolutely phenomenal it must it still feels slightly surreal to be
26:20here in the harbor surrounded by the f1 track with a car like this on your boat it is it's really
26:25it's a dream you know for me i'm you know a humble guy and having the opportunity to create this
26:30event you know i'm chattering the boat actually i'm not the owner but i'm organizing all this event
26:34like with a creative vision to bring the world here beautiful stuff well thank you for including us
26:39in that thank you for coming i'm sure airton would have approved thank you so much so much back to you simon
26:43no sartorial expert but i forgot to take the label off his coat is that you're supposed to do that i
26:52am not sure i didn't see what you were talking about but i did notice natalie was wearing some
26:55very cute hotel slippers i didn't realize that if you wondered how they got that onto the boat by the
27:01way have a little look at this they did crane it on but this cargo it's expensive cargo you can't
27:07afford for this to go wrong it seems to me that if you want to be in the hyper car market
27:12you need you're not going to get much change out of five million anything are you yeah four or five
27:16million dollars that's yours every day of the week amazing i just don't know what people do with them
27:22what do you do with it drive them what you where well on tracks or i mean you can't drive back the
27:28street take it to a racetrack surely an f1 car drive down a track way more fun that'd be nice and
27:32more challenging though now beautiful mclaren let's why don't we hear from the mclaren drivers starting with oscar
27:38um oscar um at one point obviously oh nearly wiped out sophie's phone gonna start again we're
27:46gonna start again professional faces oscar looked tricky at some points out there today with the
27:52handling of the car obviously lost the front wing at one point how was it um tricky yes um i think just
27:59the the whole day has been a bit up and down i think when we when we get everything together the
28:04pace is quite good it's just uh not proving that easy to do at the moment so um some things to to
28:10look at uh i think especially for myself it's been a very messy day so um yeah try and reset a bit
28:17tomorrow because i think the pace in the car is there it's been something that's been said of the
28:20mclaren a few times this year that the pace is there but sometimes it's difficult to handle you still
28:25finished free practice too in seconds so is that sort of an accurate description from the season of
28:30where you are here in monaco uh more or less i mean i think clearly ferrari are looking a lot stronger
28:36here than they have done um but yeah i mean i think for for today it's more just being on on my side
28:43that's been quite messy um but yeah plenty of things to learn and uh i think tomorrow will be an
28:49interesting day good luck oscar thank you thank you lando how was it out there today for you
28:54uh i mean it's it's always good fun here it's uh always stressful but yeah good fun um just
29:03difficult to get some clean laps and things at times but uh yeah i think um a nice feeling felt
29:09comfortable from uh from the beginning but uh you need to progress more in some areas oscar said that
29:14sometimes around this track in particular he's found the car a little hard to get to grips with
29:19has that been your experience as well uh yeah um yeah in what sense um i mean it's difficult to
29:28describe the things but uh you know we're talking small things like it's not huge you know but when
29:34you're talking about hundreds here and there it's uh it's small a lot of small things that add up but
29:39just uh choose too difficult to to get the braking right to get the cornering right to get the
29:44the tires the grip the feeling all in in like the perfect window so it's um i know there isn't one
29:50answer for for the question there it's uh many different things you've allowed that that's fine
29:54good luck for tomorrow cheers jason naomi i don't know about you it feels to me like it's a crucial
30:01session coming up in qualifying for lando it could be you know a pivotal point in the season for him do you
30:07think i think so yes um one because this circuit you can't really overtake on but um yeah it's not
30:13been the best in qualifying um for him lately and also when you look at today piastri put it in the
30:18wall pulled the car out and still went quicker in practice than uh than lando so it is a tough one
30:25it definitely plays on your mind when it's race after race that your teammates are qualifying for you
30:30so we all see and i just want to see a more relaxed lando he knows how quick he is he's so fast
30:36and i think it just gets the better of you sometimes the stress and the pressure that formula
30:40one brings and it's about managing that that's the most difficult part of this job it's not the
30:45driving he knows how quick he is as i said it's more managing the mental aspect of it and that's
30:50where he's tightened up on a few races lately and if there's any circuit where you need confidence
30:55going into every single corner it's monaco right it will be but i don't know if this like a logical
30:59game for him is confidence in the car i think it's more about overthinking things and maybe
31:04overdriving to try to make up the difference uh it's been as you say too many qualifyings that
31:08his teammate who's a lot younger than him in formula in his formula one career out qualifying him and
31:13now is a possible turning point where he can reclaim that and that negative momentum can very easily be
31:19turned around with one good result one good qualifying and for a driver like lando who is so critical
31:24of himself and does play that harder psychological game on himself i think it'll make a world of difference
31:28it's quite weird coming to monaco when we didn't work with him but he was an absolute legend and ej eddie
31:34jordan uh he loved this place so much he was another one that was into that pool quite often obviously
31:41a wonderful relationship with david courtard who's part of the red bull family and when we come back
31:47we're going to discuss the legacy of the great man it's been two months since the sad passing of eddie jordan
32:07today we're heading to the monaco yacht club to celebrate his life with his family and to launch
32:13his new foundation so please everybody let's take a moment to remember the best memory you have of
32:20ej right now his legacy of connecting people of supporting people and inspiring people so he was
32:2976 when he passed away but he touched so many people's lives and for those of us lucky enough to
32:35spend time with him we've come together to put a foundation to help spread that legacy so what we
32:40want to do is to find people who want to be the best they can be they may need some help so eddie's
32:46friends and acquaintances were giving time to give mentorship to give inspiration to give job
32:51opportunities and also we put together a book which is 25 lessons from eddie jordan eddie lived life at
32:59full throttle and motivated those around him to do the same he was a great judge of character and if he
33:06saw potential in you well he was determined to help you realize it he affected so many people infected
33:13him i i like to think of you know because he infected them with mirth and excitement and energy and um
33:20it's not lost it's not gone you know you can still feel it he was mad about his family and
33:27and mad about his friends and and wanted to see people do good there wasn't there wasn't an evil bone in
33:34his body i wouldn't get into business with him yeah but as a mate he was glorious a glorious man
33:40he took people under his wing he really championed um youth and talent and hard work he opened up his
33:47world to people monaco was his playground he was here two years ago and he did 20 gigs in three days
33:56he just loved it he couldn't do enough right he was just let's go next boat next boat next and and so
34:02monaco was was his place it's been amazing and it will be amazing congratulations
34:14lovely to see something so positive to come out of a man who brought so much positivity to this paddock
34:19you both spent many years with him in this paddock what are some of your fondest memories jensen
34:24well funnily enough i never actually got to work with eddie so most of my memories were
34:28post-race uh the evening which is probably the same for a lot of us but um what i loved about him
34:35when it came to racing was his passion you know um he wasn't a manufacturer he was always one of the
34:40smaller teams but could also be unbelievably competitive and it was his true grit and passion
34:46and love for this sport and uh it's going to be really really missed it really is um on the after after
34:54after racing side the party side i remember just times when i'd walk past his boat in the harbor here
34:59when i was living here and he'd go jb jb come on board son come on board and we had one of the best
35:04nights ever um so some really really special memories with eddie you also you threw a party didn't he on
35:10the monday i never we always leave on on sunday some people remained at and judo at the beach club and
35:15he was just he was one of the highlights of the grand prix year everybody that knew ej well went down there
35:20i was actually also reminded of a um of a story by andy stevenson who's great a great friend of
35:25his sporting director for years at jordan he still asked martin obviously that uh it's the latest
35:31iteration of what jordan began as and he just said it was about his fierce loyalty he was clearly one
35:37of the most loyal people up and down the paddock and as uh natalie quite rightly pointed out he's a
35:42very good judge of character and those that knew him were really loyal to him and he was loyal to them
35:47and yeah he'll be sorely missed because as he said there this was his playground a huge wonderful
35:52character that as you both say will be sorely missed in the f1 paddock but forever remembered
35:57okay well in the meantime why don't we hear from some of the red bull drivers
36:00on what they had to deal with today and that's the red bull camp in general
36:06max how was it out there today it looked like there was some um trickiness shall we say with traffic
36:12was it worse than normal in monaco well i mean monaco's always quite tricky with traffic but
36:18i think two times a day it was quite uh dangerous i would say in fp1 and then one time in fp2 which
36:25is not ideal i mean i know it's practice but it could have been i think quite a big crash you know if
36:29you don't back out of it quickly if you don't read the situation but luckily everything went well
36:35in terms of the sheer pace it's sometimes difficult to place you guys this season with having
36:39races where you won and then not as competitive do you guys know from practice today where you're
36:44shaking out i think fp1 was quite positive but then we made some changes for fp2 to see
36:49how far basically we could push the balance and i think we just overdid it a little bit so then uh
36:54yeah it's gonna really attack the corners anymore how i how i would like and yeah then you're just
36:59like shedding a lot of pace and uh that lap time was basically not coming out of it i mean i don't
37:04expect us to be the quickest but i will well we want to be of course a lot closer now what we
37:10what we were in fp2 but i'm also quite confident that we can be a lot closer but ferrari again looks
37:16very very fast i mean the mclaren's are quite close behind but if you see over the whole season the
37:20pace i think ferrari again you know took a big step forward here good luck for tomorrow thanks man thank you
37:27so isaac lots going on today um you've ended the day i think p6 in the standings but talk us through the
37:31day uh yeah it was uh really intense for me you know free practice around monaco is uh
37:40a lot more busy than usual with the traffic so i enjoyed it at the same time it was really hard
37:46and you know i had a tricky day brushing the walls playing with the limits uh yeah fp2 got me scared
37:54because i at some point i thought that was it i still managed to bring it back uh the car didn't really
38:00want to but i i forced it too and uh we could still have a few laps uh on the soft it was great work
38:08by the mechanics because they bought you that whole rest of the session i think you only missed like six
38:12minutes at the end wasn't so bad yeah again because of me and uh no they yeah i'm sorry a bit for them
38:22to add a bit of a fork but uh yeah they are really sharp yeah they did amazing today okay yeah well
38:30his garage might be sharp but so is he when you're a rookie around here this is obviously the most
38:35difficult track you'd think to make the step up isn't it from f2 or whatever it is into f1 yeah well
38:41back in the day i didn't actually race anything when i drove here the first time it's straight in an f1 car
38:45uh but the cars are even bigger now they're even faster now so it is even more difficult uh so yeah
38:51i i feel his pain a little bit but um you know he will get it together he's such a talent and i think
38:57he's been one of the big standouts this year especially for the rookies uh he will get it
39:01together but you're always going to have moments through the season when you're pushing the boundaries
39:04and somewhere like this uh i i look forward to seeing him strong tomorrow and his head will be
39:08straight it will get a good result here a lot of rookies though we saw today a bit of dawdling on
39:13racing lines could could be a key thing uh this year because there's what six of them there are
39:19six of them and like yes you know the cars are a lot bigger than they are in f2 and in an f3 so
39:24i think they sometimes forget how much space they need to leave or maybe how quickly the other cars
39:28are approaching them and that for sure today was a bit of a baptism of fire and i hope tonight they're
39:32going to get a talking to to hopefully avoid that kind of thing happening tomorrow because obviously it
39:36can cost someone a quality lab but more importantly it can also be a safety risk so it does need to be
39:41sorted out before tomorrow right it's our dinner time it's probably your dinner time at home too
39:46here's what we've got coming up on the menu this weekend
40:00oh come on crafty let's do it let's see if we can get this flat yeah fantastic oh that was amazing
40:12lando a lovely new livery for the monaco grand prix something exciting something new something uh
40:17fresh again a throwback to the the history of mclaren which is always something to be very proud about
40:23should we make our way down to the truck i brought my car so we'll have some fun oh that's good of you
40:28wow wow that is amazing last year you were only 14 points off winning the constructors championship
40:41what's happened i just wanted to start this season the same way as we finished
40:44uh fighting for the top position that's always difficult to um whoa karen let's not fall now
40:58that's the details for tomorrow 11 15 on air for practice three qualifying from
41:0810 past two and then on sunday 12 30 with a race getting underway at two o'clock can't wait all about
41:16saturday's monaco what do we think is going to happen on the basis of today's evidence uh jensen i
41:22mean charles just looking at home isn't he very good very good they all are at home as we quite
41:29often say i mean i don't know how many he's monogasque as well but i mean after what happened
41:34last year we weren't expecting it let's just go right back to the start of what we're talking about
41:38no one was thinking that ferrari were going to be be good here um do we think that that there might
41:43just be another twist tomorrow well look their pain point this year really has been slow speed
41:48corners this is a track that's full of them so we didn't expect them to be quick but we've reiterated
41:52it multiple times this is a track where a driver really can make a difference lewis has been around
41:56here so many times charles is a driver who's not afraid of the barrier we know that so it helps him
42:01to push the limit and we saw that a little bit today but yeah tomorrow is another day overnight
42:05they might be doing some simulation changes and we'll see uh what exactly it brings tomorrow but
42:10things could still change did you usually sleep well the friday night before a saturday qualifying
42:14in monaco not really because it's quite quite loud monaco isn't it yeah i'm staying in a hotel that
42:20has a dj playing until 2 a.m in the morning so yeah um it's not the best place to try and get
42:26asleep remind you of those days don't it i get lost on a yacht but the most important thing is
42:29everyone's going to be right
