In the Advertiser's weekly voxpop we asked: Should low-level criminals be forced to do community work?

00:00It's a good idea because prisons are overcrowded and jobs do need to be done.

00:10They've got an easy life on the inside, they get a bit of a harder life on the outside.

00:14I think it's something useful, they're going to be doing something useful, aren't they?

00:19Rather than sitting in a prison doing nothing.

00:22It's good to get back into the community,

00:24provided they haven't caused a serious crime.

00:26It's good to get back into the community, get them working into the community.

00:29There's a lot of things in the community we can make right,

00:31i.e., as you say, doing potholes, doing work, even litter picking on the side of the road,

00:36because it's horrendous at the moment.

00:37I think there's so much we could do.

00:38And it's not just the criminals.

00:40I think a lot of people who are not working, it could work.

00:44I think they should be made to work as well,

00:46because as a government we're paying these people to sit at home and do nothing.

00:49Let's have something back for our money, let's get people working.

00:52Let's get people back into the towns, get the community spirit back.

00:55That's what we need.

00:56I think they should do something.

00:59I mean, at the end of the day, if that chap that was found not guilty,

01:03and they were going to charge him for his board and lodgings,

01:07so why not get them people to work?

01:11And at the end of the day, if they want to free up spaces,

01:14kick out the foreigners.

01:17That's what I'd say.

01:18I believe it's a very good idea to have prisoners doing some things in the community,

01:23helping in various locations,

01:25and it'll give them something to do rather than doing anything wrong in the first place.

01:30So they're paying their time in the community,

01:33and they're contributing in a good way,

01:36and hopefully this will lead them to a better life.

01:38They're kind of looking for their concerns.

01:41Just like all of the other people who they're doing,

01:43and they're taking their formal steps to the mosque,

01:44and they're just like the names,

01:45and all of the people who they are are getting in there.

01:47They come to their right now.

01:48They come to their palace,

01:49and there's a lot of the other people who they have in the mosque,

01:51and they're paying for attention,

01:52and they're paying for attention to their存在.

01:53And they're paying attention to their farm.

01:55It's really just the same thing.
