Should nuclear weapons be banned?

In its weekly voxpop, the Advertiser heard people’s opinions on nuclear weapons and whether they should be banned.

00:00I think nuclear weapons should be bad, to be quite honest with you.

00:09There are provocations between countries. I've got one, we've got one. No.

00:16If anybody uses nuclear weapons, they must understand it's the end.

00:21The world will cease to a certain extent of what it is,

00:25because one country will blow one up and the other will blow the other up.

00:29So nobody wins? No.

00:33I agree with what it says, yes.

00:37I think at the moment, Israel is doing the right thing

00:43by trying to get rid of every nuclear facility in Iran.

00:50And the sooner they, with the help of Mr Trump, get rid of the whole lot,

00:58the better for the world.

01:00If you could get every nation to agree not to have nuclear weapons, then great.

01:04But that's not going to happen in reality.

01:06So if you are a nation that's going to be threatened by others with nuclear weapons,

01:10then you've got to have your own.

01:12It's almost a difficult one to answer.

01:19Like, I have no objection to America having nuclear weapons,

01:24but I object to Russia and Iran having nuclear weapons.

01:28It's not very sound, my judgment, no.

01:34It should be banned.

01:36It's too much.

01:37People who are going to use it shouldn't be allowed, because it just wants to be banned, shouldn't it?

01:50So I'm against the proposal of nuclear weapons, you know, around the world.

01:57I look forward in a day when we don't have to have nuclear weapons to stand by,

02:02because we don't want to construct all our countries and all our world

02:07because of all these nasty bombs, you know, and explosions everywhere.

02:12So I'm personally against any nuclear weapons being developed.
