Woman charged with three counts of murder over fatal house fire in Toowoomba

Queensland Police have charged a mother over a house fire that killed three of her children at Toowoomba on the Darling Downs. The blaze last week claimed the lives of two girls - aged 4 and 7 and a 9-year-old boy.

00:08in this horrific house fire in Harristown last week. Two men and also an 11-year-old

00:15boy managed to escape the blaze and they've since been released from hospital. Now Ros,

00:21today police announced a major update in their investigation. They said that they've now

00:27charged the 36-year-old woman and she's been charged with three counts of murder, domestic

00:34violence as well as attempted murder and one count of arson. So we believe Eloisa Brighton-Gibson

00:41now faces those charges and earlier today police released a statement saying they're no longer

00:48looking for anyone else in connection to this incident. Now the 36-year-old woman remains in

00:55hospital behind me. Her matter was heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this afternoon

01:01as you can imagine due to the seriousness of her injuries, the fact that she's still in

01:06a critical condition. She did not appear in court when that matter was heard. She has no

01:12legal representation at this stage but a duty lawyer did represent her and the matter has

01:19now been adjourned until Friday next week. Now last week people have turned out in droves to lay floral

01:27tributes, they've put down teddy bears and written messages of hope and love for the three children

01:34who died in this tragedy. Community leaders and also Queensland's Premier David Christofulli said that

01:41this tragedy has had a profound impact on the Toowoomba community and also on the children's schools and

01:49friends, Roz. So we will have more updates on this case over the coming weeks, months and even years ahead.
