$60,000 AMG motor with a cracked crankshaft. This is gonna hurt
Transcript
00:00It's a $60,000 engine that was shipped to me from a Denver AMG dealer.
00:05And apparently they tried to roll in some main bearings, and as you can see, it didn't work.
00:11Look here, down in here, you can even see where a piece of that main bearing is just about ready to just come off of that bearing.
00:17In fact, there's a piece of it.
00:19So a lot of times what will happen is mechanics, you know, that don't build engines, I'm not saying they're not trying,
00:27but they'll see a little bit of this scuffing on a main journal, and they'll take some emery cloth or something like that,
00:33and they'll buff it up, and they'll say, it shouldn't be that bad.
00:36Let's just roll some bearings in there.
00:39It never works.
00:40It doesn't work.
00:41It's so important that you have the right finish on your mains so that you don't have this problem.
00:49Look at that crack.
00:50This is a forged crank, and I've got to figure, man, you thought a Cali's crank was expensive?
00:54Where do we get to the price on what this AMG crank is?
00:57Look at that crack right there.
00:59So you kind of wonder, what the heck?
01:03Anyway, let's call the dealer and give them the good news.
