Transcript
00:00So we're here in Kinva and a lovely little shop, what's it called?
00:03The Elephant's Pyjamas.
00:05Great name, love it.
00:06And it's a mother and daughter combo, is that right?
00:08It is.
00:09So introduce yourselves then ladies.
00:11I'm Sophie and I'm a newborn photographer.
00:14Okay, we do have another daughter as well who's hugely into health and well-being
00:19but she's decided to go off travelling to Bali.
00:23That's just selfish.
00:25It's very selfish, leaving us behind.
00:26Yeah, it's in the graft.
00:28Yeah, and I'm Nicky, mum of Sophie and Amelia.
00:32Cool, and it's quite a new venture isn't it in terms of being in Kinva.
00:36You've been here since when?
00:38Okay, so yeah, we've been here since January.
00:40So very new.
00:42Everyone's been really, really welcoming.
00:45It's a really lovely community feel and lots and lots of people walking by.
00:49It's a lovely little village isn't it?
00:51It is a lovely little village.
00:52Shall I tell you a little bit about where we get the name from?
00:55Yeah, it's a story to go on.
00:57It's a story, okay.
00:59So becoming a new parent or setting up a new business can fill you with a little bit of angst.
01:04Yeah.
01:05A little bit of fear.
01:06And when I was a little girl, my grandpa always used to say, if there's enough blue sky to make an elephant in pajamas, we'll be okay.
01:12And that's where the name comes from.
01:13Oh wow, I love that.
01:15So that was your grandpa?
01:16It was.
01:16What was grandpa's name then?
01:18Hugh.
01:19Well, well done to you then.
01:20So that's lovely.
01:22I love stuff like that.
01:23It's got a little story to it, a little tale.
01:25So previous to here, you were in Wall Heath, is that right?
01:28That's right.
01:28So we opened in Wall Heath in October 2023.
01:33Again, the look of the shop was very different.
01:36We've got a really lovely loyal community and customer base.
01:40Yeah.
01:41But footfall here is so much stronger.
01:43That's what you need, isn't it?
01:44That's the reason that we moved to Kimber.
01:47Yep.
01:47So what are you all about then?
01:48What can people expect from your shop if they come in?
01:52Okay, so we say that we bring a big world to a little wardrobe.
01:55So we purchase and source items from all around the world.
01:59And our motto is, if it's not good enough for our family, it's not good enough for yours.
02:03So you can already see that we're all about family, all about good customer service,
02:09and something a little bit different.
02:10So we buy small amounts.
02:12So when you take your little one out, they look very different to everyone else
02:17who may have bought from the high street.
02:19Yeah, that sounds great.
02:20And in terms of the people you're finding coming in,
02:23are people traveling quite far to visit the village, are they?
02:25Okay, but I'm going to hand over to Soph, because Soph is the Instagram superstar.
02:30Yeah, so I find that people have traveled, and we get a lot of locals in.
02:34I find now that people do come, and they come for, there's a little calf at the end,
02:38they come for the calf, and yeah, we've ended up coming here too.
02:43Yeah, it's great, isn't it?
02:44Well, lovely little mother and daughter combo.
02:46We wish you all the best here in Kinva with business.
02:49Thank you very much.
