00:00Hey guys, it's me, Yaya Diamond. What's up? Thank you for watching. This is a great show
00:20right here. We have amazing guests, people who are going after their dreams, their goals,
00:24their visions, their books, books, children's books, adult books, reality books, memoirs,
00:31everything that you can think of right here on Dream Chasers Radio for all of the people who
00:35still and really truly appreciate the time that people put into their work to put it down in a
00:42book to give it to other people so that they can advance themselves and learn about things and
00:48learn and actually study tests. I mean, there's still just so many books. There's just a
00:54plethora, a plethora. I love saying that word. And I have Robert E. Luck. Yes, his last name is Luck.
01:01I'm hoping to get some of that rubbed off on me today as he's here with us today to talk about
01:07his book. Thank you very, very, very much. I've got to go to your book here. It is Google. Was that
01:14giggles and doodles? I can't read that. What was that? The Giggle Kitties. The Giggle Kitties. Oh my gosh.
01:21We're going to have to fix that. The Giggle Kitties. I absolutely love that. Thank you so much for
01:26being here. I appreciate that so very much. Thanks for having me. I appreciate it.
01:32So tell me, okay, so there's got to be something leading up to this book. What was it?
01:40Well, it was the fact that I was talking to a co-worker about another project I was thinking
01:48about. Try to, you know, earn a little extra money on the side and found out that that idea was already
01:56copyrighted. I said, well, we're not going to let that stop. I said, heck, I could think of something
02:01around the top of my head. And for some reason, Giggle Kitties popped in there. I said, how about the
02:06Giggle Kitties? A bunch of kids that laugh all the time and we'll have them go to museums and the zoo
02:12and just make fun of it. And I think my co-worker there didn't think I was going to follow up on
02:19this. And I had to prove it wrong, learn anything. That's it. That's it. Wow. Wow. That is so cool.
02:27I mean, I think that writing for children is like the best thing because it really does bring
02:33your imagination back after being an adult so long. I don't like adulting anymore.
02:38Yeah. I really don't. I really don't. So tell me about this book. What is in this book? And I want
02:43to laugh. Is this kind of like one of those funny books? Cheap puns. That's my forte is cheap puns.
02:51My mother had six brothers. And boy, they grew up watching Laurel and Hardy and the Three Stooges.
02:59Oh, I love them. All those 40s and 50s comedies. And it just rubbed off. And I grew up watching them,
03:08too. And some British comedy, the Mighty Python series. Oh, my teacher made us watch that.
03:16Yeah. I didn't like that very much. I thought it was silly. It's different. It's a different type
03:21of humor for sure. Definitely. No, I just find a book that was not too, you know, political,
03:31religious, just kids having fun, you know, making, just kids being kids. Wow. Something they can relate
03:38to. Definitely, definitely. So let me ask you, okay, so how did you come up with the names Kia,
03:43Carly, Jackson, James, and Trinity? Well, Kia was my coworker who I talked to about this and
03:54the one that didn't think I was going to go through with it all. So I had to give her top billing.
03:59And Carly is my grandniece. Had to get her in the book. And then I have a girlfriend that has three
04:07kids. And that came up with Jackson, James, and Trinity. So I rounded it out. Nice. Nice. And you
04:16got to get your girlfriend. If you don't do that, you're going to be sleeping on the couch.
04:20Oh, don't I know it.
04:22So what is the main message and the theme that you want to get across with the book?
04:27Just define humor in anything. Not so much that they, they do kind of poke fun at the animals, but
04:36you know, it's, nobody is getting hurt. Nobody, we're not poking fun at the other kids. We're not
04:43trying to bully. We're just trying to have fun, you know? I got you. I got you. So like, who represents
04:52you in the book? Like I've, I've seen so many different authors and had so many different
04:56authors in the show. And they always tell me some, someone, some character was, was them in the book.
05:03So is that true for you? Well, if anyone, the farmer, the farmer John, he shows the kids around to
05:14all the various animals. And, you know, I kind of like that with my nieces and nephews,
05:19the older gentlemen and got to show them around and do things. And so, yeah, I can kind of relate
05:26to them. Awesome. Awesome. I like that. I like that. Are you going to write another kid's book?
05:31Have you ever written any other books? Nope. This is my first, first crack at it.
05:37Oh, that's so cool. So how does it feel to be a published author?
05:43Uh, kind of overwhelming, to be honest with you. Just, you know, the whole process of
05:47getting the idea accepted and seeing it in, going into print and, uh, knowing that, uh,
05:55I can go from here with, you know, I have other ideas, other books in the series, if we go that
06:01route, but, uh, just, uh, gonna have fun with it and see where it goes.
06:07That is so cool. I love that. I love it. Okay. So you said a book in the series. This is a series?
06:13Not yet. I mean, I have. Okay. But you're going to make it into the series?
06:17Well, we'll see. They, uh, I talked to some folks with, uh, dream books,
06:25media professionals, and we're looking at a book to film adaptation. So I'll need a screenplay for
06:31that. And that would kind of take up, I guess, the other books in this series
06:37to, to, to make it a, a feature-length film. Right, right.
06:42So what's the, what's the, so you, you said, okay, so it's a feature-length film. Like how long
06:47will it be? Will it be like a series of films or, or like, uh, like a cartoon series? Or will it
06:53just be like a big cartoon? I'd like to see it as a cartoon series. I think it's got potential.
06:59Yeah. Um, I kind of like the idea of when, uh, Bill Cosby had his show on the Cosby kids,
07:07how he said, yo, if you're not careful, you might learn something.
07:11Yeah. And, uh, I kind of thinking the same thing, just, uh, have these kids go on various trips and
07:16just living life and, uh, laughing about things, but, you know, maybe learn something in the end too.
07:21Definitely. Definitely. So what's the age group that you're going after with this?
07:27Well, I don't think most preschoolers or first or second graders would know what puns are or would
07:34catch, you know, a joke like that. So I'm thinking like third and fourth graders and up would, would
07:41catch some of the jokes. That's cool though. I like that. How, how do your, how do your children
07:49like the book or your, do you have grandchildren? Uh, I don't, I don't have any children myself,
07:55but my, my sister has four kids. That's enough. Yeah. Yeah. That's enough. Your uncle,
08:03we're stopping by today. We're bringing all four kids. Yeah. That's yeah. That's enough.
08:08My girlfriend's got five kids actually. Oh goodness. And so, but three of them were in,
08:13you know, listed in the book there. Um, so what was the question again? No, I'm just saying how
08:23did they like it? Did they like it? Yeah. Oh yeah. They're ecstatic over it. They like seeing their
08:29name in print and it's, it was, you know, about them kind of, right. Not there, somebody else or some
08:38other school, school pal. It's, that's them in the flesh. So exactly. That's something they'll have
08:44forever. Uh huh. You, you're right. You're right. And it'll go on even beyond them. You know, I was
08:51thinking, you know, writing the writing part and then writing a new one. How do you go about writing?
08:58I mean, what is your writing process? It's, I sit down at the table, I put the pen to paper and I just go,
09:05I just, I will not stop until I get done with it. Really? So how long did it take you to do this book?
09:12Oh, about an hour. It just, it just came to me. Just once I started, I couldn't stop.
09:20I remember back in high school, I wrote a couple of little short stories and some plays for our
09:26high school yearbook, which didn't get accepted by the way, but you know, I tried, but I just,
09:31just once I started, I couldn't stop. I just, I wasn't about to put the paint, the pen down and
09:39come back a couple of weeks later and get into again. It's like, it just from start to finish,
09:45you know, an hour or so. That is so cool. That is so cool. What kind of advice do you give to writers
09:51who want to be like you, like an hour and it's done? Like I'm done. It's a kid's book. I'm done.
09:57Well, that's just how I am. I just know that the creative process, I had the ideas in there,
10:04but once I started writing, they just came to me and I just kept writing and putting it down on paper
10:08and of course, you know, read my chicken scratch because I was going pretty quick.
10:14You know, that might not work for the next person, but just, you know, have that goal in mind,
10:20what you want to accomplish and don't stop until you finish it. Definitely. Definitely. Wow.
10:26Wow. Wow. Well, thank you so much for being on the show. Is there anything else you would like
10:31to say besides where your book might be, you know, purchased or looked at?
10:37Um, that's through the regular outlets, you know, Barnes and Nobles and Amazon. And
10:46I think I just got my video trailer here a couple of days ago on YouTube.
10:51Nice. I'm getting some views on that. So, you know, that's exciting. And,
10:57you know, I got some people rooting for me there at work and, uh,
11:01we'll just, uh, just have to see how it goes.
11:02Definitely. Definitely. Well, I want to thank you so much for being on the show
11:07and with your presence, Mr. Luck.
11:09I hope you have lots of luck with this book.
11:15I got to use that in the book, don't I? I got to get that.
11:16Yes, you do. You definitely do. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Mr. Luck.
11:20You have to, I mean, no one can like take that from you because you are Mr. Luck.
11:26Yes, ma'am.
