00:00And on the phone right now is a man from Cedartown, Georgia.
00:04I'm going to tell you right now, Lana, this dude is an athlete, all right?
00:06He was a Wendy's High School Heisman nominee.
00:09What?
00:09This dude is unbelievable.
00:12He vacations with Gronk.
00:13We heard that story before.
00:15And then he decided, you know what?
00:17Forget the sports.
00:18I'm moving to Nashville.
00:19I'm going to do country music.
00:20He did that.
00:21He's written songs for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Reba McIntyre.
00:25Ladies and gentlemen, on the phone right now, he stands at 6'3".
00:28His name is Sam Lowry Hunt.
00:30Sam Hudson!
00:31What's that, man?
00:33That intro pumped me up.
00:34And you forgot, Sam and I have the same birthday on December 8th.
00:39There we go.
00:40Come on.
00:41Sagittarius all the way.
00:42Sagittarius, that's right.
00:44Hey, man.
00:44Well, it's good to hear your voice.
00:46We had to wake you up a little bit.
00:47But September 7th, we're going to sit here with Brett Young.
00:50First and foremost, how is life in the Hunt household?
00:54Oh, man, this has been the best summer ever.
00:56Although we haven't spent a whole lot of time in the household,
01:00here in the past couple months, we've been on the bus.
01:02So we took our home on the road.
01:04But my little girl and wife, Hannah, have been with me.
01:07But we've got a baby coming in October.
01:09So she's started to become tougher and tougher for her to make the trip out here
01:14and sleep on these buses.
01:15Well, guess who else is having a baby on this show?
01:20Who's that?
01:20JR!
01:21That's right, Sam.
01:22Really?
01:24Congratulations.
01:24First time, Dad, Sam.
01:26So I'm going to need some pointers, my friend.
01:28Yeah, give JR some advice.
01:30What's the best advice you got?
01:32Just hold on and let nature take over.
01:36You're in for it, man.
01:38It's going to be amazing.
01:39Well, I got a question for you.
01:40When did it hit you like, oh, this is real?
01:43Like, was it appointments for you?
01:44Because for me, I'm like lacking that aha moment right now.
01:47I think he's still in shock.
01:48I'm a little bit in shock.
01:49So I'm kind of like, when does this really hit you?
01:52I had that, too.
01:53I think not until you're holding the baby.
01:55Like, you're looking into the eyes of the child.
01:57Like, that's when it really just sort of rocks your world.
02:01Okay.
02:02Because you can imagine that moment.
02:04But when you can see your baby's mother or your wife get growing and getting bigger and showing.
02:09But until you're holding that child and looking into the child's eyes, I think it's hard to really grasp it.
02:14Okay.
02:15I feel better about that because I'm like, okay, am I the Grinch?
02:18Do I not have a heart?
02:19What's happening here?
02:20No, I think that's natural.
02:21I've heard a lot of guys say that, too.
02:23A lot of buddies say the same thing.
02:24All right.
02:24Very cool, man.
02:25Well, I appreciate that.
02:26How does Big Sister feel about the new baby coming in October?
02:29How do you explain that to her?
02:31She points to Hannah's belly and says, baby.
02:35But, you know, I don't know that she knows because we taught her that.
02:38But she's kind of in her own world, just learning and taking in everything around her.
02:45Obviously, every environment is new to her and just meeting people.
02:49And she just finally learned how to get up and take some steps.
02:53She's walking a little bit now.
02:54Oh, man.
02:55But I imagine she'll be as excited as we are about the new baby.
02:59She's going to be a good big sister.
03:01That's great.
03:02Well, in case you are looking for a name, I will recommend Lana.
03:07I mean, it falls in line with Lucy if you're keeping the L's.
03:10Lana and Lucy.
03:12And it rhymes with her mom's name kind of a little bit.
03:14Lana.
03:15Not really.
03:16Kind of.
03:17It sounds esteemed.
03:19Very much so.
03:21Talking to Sam Hunt right now.
03:22He's going to be here September 7th.
03:24I saw that you were trying to pump up your female numbers, too, by adding Brett Young as one of the openers.
03:29Did you feel like you didn't have enough females at the show?
03:32Sam, what was going on?
03:34Oh, man.
03:35I can hear him out there every night singing his songs.
03:38He's got so many sing-alongs.
03:40But, you know, I've known Brett a long time.
03:42And you forget how many hit songs he has.
03:45But I've been hearing him sing them now for the last month.
03:48It's been a long time.
03:49Well, you know, and it's interesting, and we won't get too personal on this, but your guys' first records are a lot of heartbreak songs about your now wives.
03:57Yeah.
03:57I mean, that's a parallel that not a lot of people make, I don't think.
04:00Yeah, I know.
04:01I didn't connect those dots until he and I had a conversation on a plane like two years ago.
04:06He was sitting behind me, coincidentally, and he was telling me a little bit about his story.
04:12And, yeah, there are a lot of interesting parallels, his story and my story, as far as who we ended up marrying.
04:19And when we met, you know, we both met our wives back when we were young and had an interesting journey to an eventual family together.
04:28It's awesome.
04:29You guys are just super talented songwriters, super talented artists.
04:31It's going to be a good show.
04:33It's going to be a great show.
04:34Hey, what can you tell people that don't know Lily Rose?
04:36What can you tell me about her?
04:38Yeah, she's a special artist.
04:39She's a great songwriter.
04:40She's from Georgia, so we have that in common.
04:43There you go.
04:43There's a lot of kinship there between Lily and myself.
04:46But she has her own spin on things and has a great, great voice and a great presence.
04:52And she's just early in her career, just getting started.
04:55But I think she's got a whole lot of potential and is doing a lot of great things right now.
05:00So she's a great addition to the tour.
05:02All right.
05:03Well, we will see you September 7th at the Amphitheater.
05:05Sam, always appreciate your time, brother.
05:07Best of luck to, well, we'll see you.
05:09Well, I get to say this to you, but we will see you before you have this second baby.
05:13But I'm so happy for you.
05:14And I appreciate the advice.
05:15Thank you, man.
05:15Congrats to you, too.
05:16All right, dude.
05:17All right.
05:17Thank you, Sam.
