00:00All right, very excited to talk to this guy. It's been a while, but he is a Paris, Illinois native.

00:05He is an ACM CMA nominated and award-winning artist, a giant Chicago Cubs fan, and one of the silkiest voices in the business.

00:14Ladies and gentlemen, Brett Eldridge.

00:19What's up, man? How are you?

00:21How y'all doing?

00:22We're doing good. It's good to hear your voice. It's been a minute.

00:24I know it's been a long minute, but it feels good. It feels like we never left.

00:30Brett Eldridge is on the phone right now. His song is called Songs About You.

00:33His tour is called Songs About You. The new album is called Songs About You.

00:37Thank you, Brett, for being so creative when it came to titling all this.

00:40Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm here for.

00:43Well, I know Lana wants to check in with someone very special in your life.

00:47Oh, I mean, and I know you've kind of taken Edgar out of the spotlight because you want to focus about you and your music,

00:52but I just ask, how's Edgar doing?

00:55It's great. He is always with me every day.

00:58Enjoying that retired life. He doesn't have to smile for pictures anymore, and he gets more time with me than ever now.

01:07I love this event that you're doing in Nashville.

01:10I cannot even imagine a more perfect night.

01:17I mean, what an amazing thing that you put together, huh?

01:21Yeah, I've played it a few times, and, you know, that's such a classic place, and to be able to pack it up with a bunch of people, you know,

01:30happy and ready for some joy and looking for an escape with some Christmas music, it's been such a special show.

01:36So this year we're doing like a whole residency there several nights in a row, and several of them are already close to selling out already,

01:42and it's many months away.

01:43So it's going to be a very joyous experience for sure, and I'm excited for that.

01:48You sing so many holiday classics. What's your favorite one to sing?

01:53You know, I think I really like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

01:56I've always loved that song.

01:58I know, because he gets in that low, and that's what the ladies are like.

02:01The ladies are like, oh, man, he just went deep on that voice.

02:05Very smart.

02:06It gives you that velvet feeling, you know what I mean?

02:08Absolutely.

02:09Hey, by the way, speaking of velvet, let's talk about these suits that you wear during some of these specials.

02:12I mean, you are dialing in, man.

02:14You look sweet.

02:15Now, who is your guy or girl when it comes to your suits?

02:20I wear a lot of Tom Ford.

02:22Tom Ford.

02:23What are we looking at?

02:24Are we talking about a couple thousand dollars, thousand dollars?

02:27Ten thousand dollars.

02:29They are not cheap, I'll say that.

02:31However, I will say that I get my use out of them.

02:34You know, I mean, they're the ones that I will wear for a long time because they're classic,

02:39and so I invest in great suits, a lot of them are velvet.

02:43And, you know, they're, you know, you have to, I figured out you have to really take care of them, though.

02:46You know, velvet, like, if you sew as much sneeze around them or, like, get a drop of water on them,

02:51they're, like, ruined.

02:52So, it's like, you know, I want the shows to be really special.

02:55I want to feel special when I'm up there.

02:57And so I get a great suit and get it tailored right, and I'm ready to go.

03:05But, Brett, before we get into that, I wanted to see if you saw this whole Mariah Carey thing about her being called the Queen of Christmas,

03:12and now there are being lawsuits about it, and her trying to patent that.

03:15I heard about that.

03:16She wants to trademark it so you can't print that basically on anything.

03:20Like, you can't put it on a shirt, you can't put it on a mug, you can't put it on all these different things.

03:26Christmas ornaments and all that.

03:27Have you tried to trademark...

03:29Mr. Christmas.

03:30Or, you know, or the Eldridge Glow, because that's the name.

03:34I mean, what about that?

03:34Yeah, there's a lot of different ones.

03:36You know, I haven't really done a whole lot into that, but I...

03:40Brett, we're glad you haven't dug into that.

03:44But, you know, I like having all the...

03:48I just want to ooze Christmas, you know, all of it.

03:51Let's just take it all.

03:52As long as I can do it until I'm 80, 90, I'm going to continue to take this thing wherever it goes

03:57until I move to the North Pole and retire, you know what I mean?

04:01And I think I've asked you this before.

04:02Have you ever been approached by Boo Blair the other way around about, you know, teaming up for some kind of holiday album?

04:09Because both of you guys just crush.

04:10And when I think Christmas albums, I think you too.

04:14Yeah, yeah.

04:14We haven't done anything like that yet, but however, we're both in the same label.

04:18Right.

04:19And so I think it would be cool.

04:22We haven't gone that route yet, but, you know, we both are big Christmas guys.

04:26It'd be pretty cool, and I just love what he does, and I think it'd be a good combo.

04:29So I think someday maybe we'll try to pull that off, see what we can do.
