00:08So this morning we hear from Nora and this is a tough one you guys.
00:14Cringe.
00:15So Nora writes, my husband is speaking at a conference and he let me hear his speech
00:21before he plans to give it. One of his anecdotes involves me and the way he tells it makes me
00:27sounds selfish and difficult. He might think it's funny but I found it humiliating and I told him
00:33I wanted every mention of me removed from the speech. He says he doesn't have time to rewrite
00:38it and nobody at the conference knows me anyway so I just shouldn't care. But that's not really
00:41the point to me. He knows the story hurts and still intends to tell it to a room full of
00:46strangers
00:47because changing it would be inconvenient. Am I out of line? Wow. Okay so. So many feelings.
00:56So many feelings. I have so many feelings about this. Okay so I know a lot of people might not
01:00be able to relate to this but right out of the bat right out of the gate I thought to
01:05myself this is
01:05like being on the radio. Something will happen in our household and I'll be like oh my gosh
01:09that was so funny. Sometimes I'm the butt of the joke. Sometimes my wife is. Sometimes my kids are
01:14right? And sometimes you need to embellish the story just to make it a little bit more interesting.
01:20Thousand percent. Gotta dress it up a little bit sometimes. You bet. You bet.
01:23But at the end all be all relationship with my wife she has say I always cover my bases by
01:33asking
01:33her is it okay if I bring this up here's how I'm gonna kind of say it and here's what
01:37I'm thinking.
01:38Okay. And she has the say. If she says no it's no. Yeah. And there's not a hesitation for me.
01:45At the end of the day a bunch of strangers in this conference. Sure you might get your message
01:50across but sorry I have to go home to my wife. I gotta live with my wife. I gotta sleep
01:55next to my
01:55wife. Delete the speech. It's over. I don't even know why this is. It makes me wonder why he even
02:02let her hear it. Right. What is I mean like maybe is he trying to send her a message? Is
02:10Nora a little
02:11more difficult than maybe she thinks she is? And this was his way of being like sure listen to the
02:17speech and maybe take a hint. You know I mean so maybe bring up a good point not to interrupt

02:22but she says I want every mention of me removed. Yeah. As opposed to the part that makes me you
02:28know
02:28what I mean she's just like I'm done. Yeah. So maybe I get what you're saying. Hmm. Okay. Um hmm.
02:37As a person
02:38that says a lot of inappropriate things over the years. That's being me. I always check with the wife
02:45before I know I'm going to say something or do anything or if I just said something I'll
02:50immediately text her and say did did you hear that? So I never want to make her look bad or
02:54anything so I would delete it. Uh because just like Jeff said you're coming home to that person
03:00that's the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with. Why try to be funny in a
03:04spot
03:05where you really don't have to be. And it's different for us because we're on the radio
03:09right? Right. So it will everything we say gets back to our partners. Right. Right. Everything
03:14we say gets back to the people we're talking about. Nora never would have known. Nope. She never
03:20those strangers would never call her and be like your husband is trashing you. This is why I don't
03:27understand. I think that there's more to it which is why he let her hear the speech. That's a good
03:33point. You know and he didn't start it with hey I kind of made this up. This isn't really
03:38you. I kind of made this part up just because it makes the story better. True. You know like
03:44he's saying suck it up buttercup. Nobody cares. I don't know. I think there's bigger issues here.
