00:00There's a place in Detroit, you probably have heard of it, I know you have, called Kaju Cafe.
00:04Have you ever been there? Of course, yeah. That's one of the most haunted places I've ever been in my
00:07life.
00:07When you see an apparition, it's kind of like you don't believe yourself, because it's so crazy, right?
00:11But no, I was confident that I saw it.
00:14Haunted Michigan. Terrifying Tales.
00:18Hey, it's Meltdown here, along with Justin Cox from Michigan's Paranormal.
00:22Where are you at, Justin? What part of the state are you in?
00:25I'm actually on Eloise Asylum's campus at our headquarters here.
00:28You're there right now? Okay.
00:30Yeah, so our headquarters is in an old garage behind the asylum, so we got a pretty sweet setup here.
00:38Yeah, I got you. I can imagine. So are you local? You're in a southeastern Michigan area?
00:42Yeah, but we go everywhere, everywhere that we can get to. We're a big fan of the ghosts, so.
00:49I'm sure. And so anyways, now you guys started SHOP in October of 2024. Is that correct? You're coming up
00:57on two years?
00:58Yeah, we're coming up on two years. This is our first full year of actually, like, doing more of the
01:03business side of it as well.
01:05So it's been great. The partnerships that we've made with places like Eloise and Huron River Inn, Mortuary Manor.
01:12It's pretty notable locations. It's just awesome. The momentum that we're gathering is just crazy.
01:18Yeah, now you've been at Eloise for a little while, and we were just talking about this off the air
01:23that I captured.
01:24Well, I didn't capture. A girl next to me captured it, and then, you know, I've talked about this in
01:27the past.
01:28I even had it on my stories earlier this week, but we captured audible screams that everybody in the room
01:33heard from outside the room area.
01:36And we were on the fourth floor in the surgical room, and even the tour guide, and I quote her,
01:41said, what the F was that?
01:42And then I had friends of mine on the fifth floor, and nobody heard it.
01:47So we all heard it in this room, and it was one of the most unbelievable things.
01:52Now, I've talked with people that have investigated Eloise a ton, but what are some of the things that you
01:59guys have found?
02:01Eloise kind of is like the cream of the crop.
02:03It has everything from disembodied voices, shadow figures, full apparitions.
02:09People claim to see a figure called the Hat Man on the second floor in the administration hallway.
02:15A crawler on the fifth floor that apparently crawls all around on the ceiling and on the ground of people.
02:20I've never experienced that personally.
02:23But, yeah, everything from that, touching, screaming, growling, it's all there.
02:29It's an amazing place to experience stuff.
02:33Now, you said you haven't experienced the crawler on the fifth floor, you said, but what have you experienced yourself?
02:38I mean, some of our team members have captured photos that looks like a man's wearing a hat on the
02:43second floor.
02:43So that's pretty cool when you get claims that line up with the evidence you gather.
02:50I've been touched in that asylum so many times.
02:53On the fifth floor were the old padded rooms where I was trying to put my hand on the door
02:58to, like, you know, pull it close.
03:00I said, if you're not going to talk to me, I'm going to leave.
03:01So I put my hand on the door and it felt like something just grabbed my wrist to pull me
03:04back in.
03:05So that was wild.
03:08I was just in there today just walking around with one of my team members, and we were the only
03:13ones in the building, and we got whistled at, and then we turned around and just got growled at.
03:17Like, and nothing was there.
03:19Nothing was up there with us.
03:20That was earlier today.
03:21Yeah, that was a few hours ago.
03:23Yeah.
03:23Yeah.
03:24And do you have any of this stuff that you captured?
03:26Like I said, I got that on audio.
03:28Some girl just happened to be recording.
03:30Do you have any of that kind of stuff that we can find online or anything?
03:33Yeah, so, like, if you go to our TikTok and Facebook, we'll post evidence clips of stuff, and we'll capture
03:38cool stuff, and we'll put it on our social media.
03:40Yeah, how many people are in your group now?
03:42So right now we have 20 active members.
03:46Now, that's our paranormal team.
03:48We also have a business side because to fund a group of this size, you know, rents expensive, gear is
03:55amazingly expensive.
03:57So what we do is we host public events and can let people come and ghost hunt with us.
04:02And that's how we fund our group, and we're able to go travel and do all these cool things and
04:06see all these cool places.
04:07Yeah, so what are some of the other places you were just mentioning about?
04:12Where else do you guys go to investigate with groups?
04:15So, like, to bring public, so here on River Inn in Rockwood, Michigan, it's more of a low-key.
04:20Not that many people know about it.
04:22It's kind of – we're trying to get it up there.
04:24It's an amazing, amazing location.
04:26It's an old inn above a bar that's super haunted.
04:30It's – if you don't believe in ghosts, go to the Huron River Inn.
04:33That's what I tell people.
04:35And then you have Mortuary Manor, which is down in Toledo, Ohio.
04:39It's an old funeral home.
04:41It has a morgue and everything down there.
04:42You can go lay on the body slabs and go in the embalming rooms.
04:46It's pretty sweet.
04:48And we're also building – we have a couple more I can't talk about right now, but we have a
04:51couple more big ones in the works.
04:53But, yeah, no, it's amazing.
04:55If you go to our social media, we have links to all of our events.
04:59We actually officially partnered with Eloise now, so we're taking over all paranormal operations at Eloise.
05:05So all the ghost hunts, the lock-in, flashlight tours, paranormal history tours, we're doing all of it.
05:10And that starts up at the end of October when we take over.
05:14Okay, I got you.
05:15So get back to this here on River Inn because I think a couple other people have talked about this
05:21as well.
05:21When was this place built?
05:24This was mid-1800s.
05:26The date's kind of foggy.
05:27But it was before – it was a stop, a train stop between Ohio and Detroit.
05:34It was a carriage stop, so the main carriage road, which is kind of around where I-75 is.
05:40Because it was like a stop before you get to the big city, right?
05:47So thousands of people throughout, like, you know, the transit months, they would be stopping there, getting a drink, getting
05:54a room.
05:55And then in record, it's kind of crazy because, like, the paranormal history really didn't start until, like, the 70s,
06:02believe it or not.
06:04There was a lot of traumatic things that happened in the upstairs of that building, all within, like, a 10
06:08-year gap.
06:09And the owners at the time just said, this is too much, and they closed the inn part and then
06:13just let it be a restaurant.
06:15To this day, it's only a restaurant.
06:17The inn is preserved.
06:19It's like you're stepping back in time into the 70s.
06:21It's like everything just left, right?
06:24Somebody just locked the door and nobody went back in.
06:27And so when we go in there, you know, we're respectful of the property.
06:31We don't let people pick up things and touch things.
06:32It's kind of treat it like a museum.
06:34But the activity in that space is crazy.
06:38Like, if you go on our TikTok, we've had our equipment thrown off of shelves, like, literally, like, yeeted off
06:46shelves.
06:46We've caught shadow figures walking into a room and setting off rempods and motion detectors.
06:52We have crystal clear EVPs where, like, I walked in a room, I said, hello, hello, and something said, like,
07:00crystal clear.
07:03We set up in there all the time.
07:04I spend a lot of time in these places that we're partnered with, so I get to, like, experience a
07:08lot of cool stuff.
07:09I was setting up cameras one time, and I could hear a little boy giggling.
07:13And I was like, hey, that's cool, but let's pick a different sound next time, you know?
07:19So, yeah, no, it's a really, it's a wickedly cool place.
07:22We're actually hosting, on October 16th, we're hosting a Halloween festival there, free to the public.
07:30And people can come check out the inn and have bonfire.
07:34There's a couple big podcasters that are coming to tell spooky stories by a bonfire.
07:39We're having scare actors from Eloise come out and intermingle with the crowd.
07:43We're doing a trunk retreat, all free to the public, bring your kids, get some candy.
07:47You know, it's going to be awesome.
07:49There's going to be vendors there, live entertainment.
07:52It's going to be sweet.
07:53And then the day after that, on October 17th, we're hosting a public ghost hunt at the inn.
07:58And it's the last one for the year, too.
08:00And the first time slot's already sold out.
08:02There's only, like, probably 20 tickets left.
08:05It's a hot place.
08:07The owners, they're really cool for letting us open it up to the public.
08:11But this will be the last time for a while that it's going to be open.
08:15Yeah, I was going to ask you if the owners were receptive, because I'd imagine some of the owners of
08:19some of these places don't want to have, you know, their buildings and their residents kind of pigeonholed as evil
08:28haunted spots or whatever.
08:30Yeah, a lot of people, like, and that's the thing about this industry, right, is trying to find venues and
08:35property owners that are receptive and will allow you to go and investigate and, you know, stir up the dust
08:41or whatever.
08:42The owners out here on River End, they're amazing.
08:45It's Tyler and Tori.
08:47They're amazing people.
08:51They're okay with us opening up to the public, but part of the stipulation is, one, people have to be
08:56respectful to the spirits there and respect the place, you know.
09:00Just come in, enjoy it.
09:01Don't be mean.
09:02Don't threaten spirits.
09:03They don't allow, like, Ouija boards or anything, like, no summoning.
09:07Um, they just want people to come in and have a good time and be respectful.
09:11And if you go in there and you're respectful and, like, we found ghost hunting, you know, some people are
09:15more, like, intimidating, like, hey, ghost, do this, do this, you know.
09:19Uh, we're more like, hey, do this if you want.
09:22And then when they do something, we say thank you.
09:24And then those interactions tend to get drawn out longer because we're thanking them, we're being respectful to the place
09:29and the spirits.
09:30And we tend to get some pretty cool interactions that way.
09:33Now, this place you said is upstairs from the restaurant.
09:36Has anything ever happened in the restaurant itself?
09:39Yeah.
09:39So, the, the, the hard, the hard thing about investigating a restaurant in general is, one, it's an active business,
09:45right?
09:46So, you got cooks making noise, you got staff making noise, everybody's talking, everybody's clanking plates.
09:52So, like, to investigate, like, the main floor, it's kind of hard, right?
09:55Um, but they closed it down for us, uh, a couple of weeks ago.
10:00And we did a full-scale investigation of the entire building, which we didn't get to do before because it
10:04was usually always open.
10:06Uh, so, like, we did the basement, the, the main floor, and the upstairs.
10:10And every bit of that building has activity.
10:13Um, a big claim on the main floor is you go in the men's bathroom and, like, stuff whispers in
10:17your ear.
10:18Like, you know, like, like, goes, like, you know, makes some weird noises.
10:22So, that, that's cool.
10:23Um, the basement is where we had equipment thrown off our shelves, like, off of their shelves.
10:29And that's all on camera.
10:30Like, it's on our social media.
10:31It's just pretty crazy.
10:33Yeah, that's the thing.
10:34It's like, uh, uh, when, when we captured that audio at Eloise, the thing that was cool about it was,
10:39we were in a group of about 15.
10:41Then there was a group of about 15 on the fifth floor.
10:43And so, there wasn't 100 people there.
10:45So, we, every, everybody in that room heard that.
10:48Yeah.
10:49There was no mistake.
10:50Oh, the big thing at Eloise is, like, like, right now, like, recently, I don't know why, but, like, a
10:55lot of people are getting whistled at on, like, the third floor for some reason.
10:58Uh, it's kind of been happening quite a bit.
11:01And, uh, like I said, it just happened to us today.
11:03I was in there at 2 in the morning, uh, this morning.
11:06It was, I got whistled at again.
11:09Um, no, Eloise, Eloise has everything you would ever want in a haunted location.
11:14Yeah.
11:15Yeah, especially since you're out there and you can take you on a private ghost hunt.
11:18Yeah.
11:18No, I've, I've been out there several times.
11:20It's, uh, it's really cool.
11:21But, like I said, there was a few times I was out there where there was just too many people.
11:24You know what I'm saying?
11:25And it's like, you know, look, I, I, I see the, the, you know, I, I see the, the lights
11:29turning on and off, like, you know, on the flashlights and whatnot.
11:32And that's, that's kind of a neat party trick.
11:34But this was like, like, that was one of the most crazy moments I've ever experienced, uh, doing, you know,
11:41this type of thing.
11:43Yeah.
11:43And also, I want to speak on that real quick.
11:46Um, Eloise used to do paranormal events for years.
11:49They've been doing them.
11:50Um, but a lot of times they're overcrowded and that was the biggest complaint people were having with Eloise.
11:54You know, they would sell, you know, three, 400 people tickets to come check it out.
11:59And like, that's just way too many.
12:00You have 50, 60 people on a floor sometimes.
12:02Um, so now that we took over paranormal operations, we'd limit it down to 15 to 20 people per floor.
12:10And like, if, if we sell out, which we have sold out every date so far that we've put up,
12:15um, we don't allow people to like come extra.
12:18You know, we, we, we, we stick to the, the limit of a hundred people max through five different parts
12:23of the building.
12:24And they also gave us cool access.
12:25So like, if you've never been in the tunnels or the sub attic or the sub basement or the attic
12:29or the firehouse, uh, now we're allowed to open that up for you guys.
12:33So that's cool too.
12:34So people get to see parts of Eloise that they've never got to see before.
12:38So that's pretty sweet.
12:39Yeah.
12:40I don't think I've been in there, uh, myself, uh, in those areas there.
12:43Are they doing the haunted house in a basement this year?
12:46Yeah.
12:46Uh, so the first floor of Eloise and the first basement, cause there's, there's two basements, but the first floor
12:52in the first basement, um, is a commercial haunted house designed by universal studios architects.
12:57It's sweet.
12:58They have 150 scare actors in there.
13:00They start tonight.
13:01Uh, they're hard open tonight.
13:04I'm at 7 PM.
13:05And this is October 2nd as we record this.
13:08Cause we'll, we'll post this later.
13:09Oh yeah.
13:10Yeah.
13:10So, yeah.
13:11So they're, uh, it's a full state of the art haunted house, uh, every weekend in October.
13:16And then the first weekend of November is their last one.
13:20Uh, it's, it's, it's amazing.
13:22Um, so like Eloise is cool because you can come for like the commercial haunted aspect and get like the
13:26commercial haunted feeling, but then you can go upstairs and it's, it's for real, you know, get the real stuff
13:32there too.
13:33Well, I've heard, uh, I've heard people that have worked there, even in the haunted house area where you're talking
13:38about, uh, below where there's been some crazy stuff.
13:41That's happened down there on off hours.
13:43They've had staff members, uh, just the, they did a soft open this year and four scare actors came forward
13:49and they had big scratches down their back.
13:51Hmm.
13:52Four different scare actors.
13:54Wow.
13:54That just happened this year, huh?
13:56Yeah.
13:57Last weekend, actually.
13:58Wow.
13:59Yeah.
14:00It's like, how do you explain that?
14:01Uh, did they, was it like a burning sensation for them?
14:03Like I've heard in the past.
14:05No, I think they've noticed that like, as they were taking their costumes off and they're like, Oh wow.
14:08You have scratches.
14:09Oh, so do you.
14:10Wow.
14:10That's, you know, something like that.
14:11No kidding.
14:12Wow.
14:14It's, it's, it's really, it's, it's a really amazing.
14:16It's an amazing place.
14:18I love it here.
14:19It's great.
14:20What other places have you been to, uh, here in Michigan since this is haunted Michigan?
14:24Uh, you named a few, you talked about the place in Toledo, but what else have you done?
14:28Oh man.
14:29Uh, have you ever heard of Stimson hospital up in Eaton Rapids?
14:32I believe I have, but tell us about that.
14:34I think somebody else told me about that too.
14:36Yeah.
14:36So Stimson hospital, uh, was like, it's a, it's not like a hospital in the sense you would
14:41think it's like a Victorian mansion that a couple of doctors turned into a hospital.
14:46Right.
14:46Um, you know, the, the guy that owns it, Chris, he's sweet.
14:50Uh, he, he gave us a little tour, told us like, like 3000 people died in that building.
14:54And that, like a Victorian mansion, right?
14:57Like I gotta keep clarifying that it's like a house that they just happened to make into
15:03a hospital.
15:04Um, and this is in big rapids.
15:06You said, uh, Eaton Rapids.
15:08Eaton Rapids.
15:08Okay.
15:09Yep.
15:09Eaton Rapids.
15:10Uh, and like, uh, one of the most prominent claims is in the basement.
15:14You hear the doctor that fell down the elevator shaft.
15:16So there was two doctors.
15:18Um, I'm not going to say the name since I've forgotten.
15:19I don't want to say anything wrong, but there's two doctors.
15:21There's one was working in the basement in the morgue and right outside the morgue is
15:25the elevator and the doctor upstairs, the forgot that the elevator was being serviced
15:30up in the attic.
15:30So he walked in the elevator shaft and fell down and died right in front of his partner
15:36that was working in the basement.
15:38And so, so he, he roams the hallways there.
15:42Yeah.
15:42That's one of the claims.
15:43Uh, one of the, they have like a little doll that has human hair that they say, if you don't
15:48pay her a token, like guilt, she'll haunt your dreams for weeks.
15:52Uh, I don't, and then the thing about mystery as paranormal is we're really science and logic.
15:57If we don't catch it on camera or with a recording device or on thermals motion, then it doesn't
16:01exist to us.
16:03Um, we don't use any mediums or anything like that in our investigations.
16:08So, uh, we kind of like that stuff.
16:11We don't really put a lot of stock into, um, but other claims that we can prove like knocking
16:15voices, apparitions, you know, that's, that's what we tend to investigate more.
16:19But Simpson hospital is pretty, it's pretty wild.
16:22Our investigators had a wild time there.
16:25People get touched there, yelled at, uh, stuff moves.
16:28There's like little cat toys that follow people around.
16:30There's remote control cars that just have lived on their own.
16:34Um, and then the owner has some cool, uh, security footage of stuff, just like laying on his table
16:39and then just like jumping off the counter, like, like some poltergeist type activity.
16:43Uh, so that's cool.
16:45Um, and now, and one thing I will say though, uh, being a paranormal investigator, it's, it's
16:49cool because, uh, there's an unseen side to this where you do house calls.
16:54Like people ask you to come to their houses, but you don't record it.
16:57And well, we record, but we don't like posting on social media.
17:00We don't like tell people about it because for confidentiality purposes, a lot of people
17:04don't know.
17:05A lot of people don't want people to know their house is haunted.
17:07They don't want people like bothering them to ghost hunting or whatever.
17:11But I will say there's some people's houses that are way more haunted than even Eloise
17:15or like any, any of these hospitals, prisons, like there's people's houses tend to be more
17:20haunted.
17:20I feel like, and they reach out to you and they, and they ask you to investigate.
17:24Yeah.
17:24So Michigan's paranormal, we do not charge for house calls.
17:28So if you are terrified, something's happening in your house and you want somebody to come
17:31help you, uh, we will come out for free and see if we can help.
17:35You know, we don't, we don't like to say, uh, we don't prove a house is haunted, but we
17:39like to prove that they're not.
17:41Um, so any evidence we gather, we try to debunk, recreate, um, we don't, we don't hear a,
17:48we don't hear a pipe banging and go, Oh, there's a ghost.
17:50This place is super haunted.
17:51But, you know, we're really into, uh, we, we have like a whole system.
17:54We have like a whole team SOP that we go through, like a pre-investigation checklist.
17:58We check for like EMF leaks around electronics, um, bad plumbing, uh, creepy floorboards, uh,
18:05doors, drafts.
18:06Like we check for a lot of things that could cause a lot of people to have claims.
18:12How many, how many, uh, how many go, how many, um, uh, investigations you think you've
18:16done in, in just personal homes?
18:19Uh, so just in Michigan, I think the last time, I think we're on like 70 something.
18:25We're on 73 or 74 and that's within two years.
18:29Now, is it, uh, is it based in a certain area or are they all spread out?
18:33No, we go as, I mean, we haven't been to the UP yet, but we've been up close.
18:38Uh, we go to Hemlock, we go all the way west to Bay City, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo.
18:42Um, we've done, we've done Taylor, Troy, St. Clair Shores, even, uh, Jackson, Lansing, just
18:49pretty much all over the state.
18:52And I was going to say, but is, is it like, is like, is there like more, maybe a concentration
18:56of more haunted places in a certain part of the state that you found or is it just all
19:00spread out?
19:00I feel like South, Central Michigan, like Three Rivers area, Hillsdale, I feel like a
19:05lot of our calls come from that area, like Jackson.
19:09Um, yeah, so like mid, mid South Michigan.
19:11And these people at all these houses, they're probably, uh, are they super skeptical?
19:16Are they frightened?
19:17Are they just trying to, to, to make sure that it's not haunted or how, how do they approach
19:21you?
19:22Oh, some people are like, Hey, uh, I'm laying in my bed every day and there's like a knocking
19:28on my headboard and like lights turn on and off.
19:30It's trying to scare me.
19:31I don't want to live in my house anymore.
19:33So we go out and we try to prove their claims and then we try to assess the situation.
19:37Is it something bad going on here?
19:39Uh, is it something negative or is it just something trying to reach out?
19:42I like to tell people when you think of ghosts, instead of being scared right away, think about
19:47it.
19:47Like, imagine you have a friend that's invisible that can't talk right beside you.
19:51Right.
19:51Yeah.
19:52Imagine it's Casper.
19:53Yeah.
19:54How is he going to get your attention?
19:55He's going to turn lights on and off.
19:56He's going to bang on doors.
19:57He's going to try to yell.
19:59Right.
19:59He might touch you.
20:00Like that, that's how you kind of got to look at it.
20:02And then it's not so scary anymore.
20:04And as far as like people's homes being haunted, it's a lot about energy.
20:08Like people can take their home back.
20:09Like if your home house is haunted, all you got to say most of the time is, Hey, this
20:13is my house.
20:14I know you're here.
20:15I don't want you here.
20:16You need to leave.
20:16And that's usually all it takes.
20:18Just, you know, commanding the energy and taking over.
20:22Now, in a previous episode that I had a couple of years ago, I was talking to this guy named
20:26Gerald Hunter and Gerald was investigating the Southline Hotel before it burned down.
20:30This was, you know, pre the fire, which was I think 2017 or something.
20:35Anyways, long story short for people that didn't hear it, but this was one of the craziest
20:39stories I've ever heard.
20:40And I've, I heard it from the owner of the bar and I heard it from, uh, uh, from Gerald
20:44as well, that there was this woman that worked there and she had this ability that she could
20:49see, you know, dead people, you know, for all intents and purposes.
20:53And, uh, she actually quit because there was a entity in there that was, that was stalking
20:57her and it wouldn't leave her alone.
20:59She was, uh, she was a night worker.
21:00She, she, she worked there at night cleaning the bar and whatnot.
21:03Anyways, one night they talked to her into coming back.
21:05It was a Sunday night and, uh, somebody said along the line, which, which made me think
21:09about it, uh, when you brought this up was, uh, they said, next time you see this person,
21:13ask them what they want.
21:14And she yelled out, what do you want?
21:16When she saw this entity in the, in the kitchen and her back started burning and I got the
21:21picture on my phone and I actually posted it years ago, but it said, it said you backwards.
21:25So there's like, there's some, there's some craziness that happens out there.
21:30And I just made me think about that when you were talking about what people say, you know,
21:34get out of my house.
21:35No, there's a house in Ludington, uh, that I did a couple of houses out in Ludington,
21:41but this one's in particular, um, they have like a kitchen Island and then they probably
21:46have like 30 or 40 cabinets around like the, around the whole, like, uh, vicinity of the
21:51walls and stuff.
21:53And I said, if there's anybody in here, let me know now.
21:57And about 15 cabinets opened and closed at the same time.
22:00And I was like, Oh, okay.
22:04It's like, that works.
22:05Yeah.
22:06Did you step back?
22:08What did you do?
22:09No, I was more curious.
22:10I actually looked at the cabinets to make sure somebody wasn't messing with me.
22:13You know, I looked for like mechanical arms or something to see if somebody like set that
22:17up, but no, it was, they're all just regular cabinets.
22:20So that's the thing about being like, you know, seeing so much stuff and, and being in
22:26like wild places, uh, really creepy places, uh, cool places.
22:31Um, you kind of, I kind of lose the sense of being scared.
22:34It's more like curiosity.
22:37Right.
22:37So when I hear like a footstep or like a scream, instead of like running away, I'm like, Oh,
22:42I'm going to see what caused that.
22:43I'm going to see if there's people hanging around there.
22:45I want to go see if there's a window that's open and it's just a draft.
22:47You know, I'm banging stuff around.
22:49Uh, so I'm more curious when it comes to that stuff as opposed to being scared.
22:54So I think, I think that kind of helps as well.
22:58Yeah.
22:58You talked about the, uh, the cabinets opening closing.
23:01Would you say that was, uh, that was one of the, one of the biggest pieces of evidence
23:05you've ever seen or what else have you seen?
23:08Oh man.
23:09Uh, there's a place in Detroit.
23:12You probably have heard of it.
23:13I know you have called Kaju cafe.
23:14Have you ever been there?
23:15Of course.
23:15Yeah.
23:16Yeah.
23:16All right.
23:17We're sitting muscles, but yeah, I love Kaju cafe.
23:20Yeah.
23:21Um, that's one of the most haunted places I've ever been in my life.
23:24Why is that?
23:26Uh, well, when we were there, so I don't know if you're familiar with, uh, going inside,
23:30but there's a table off to the left when you walk in about midway along the wall.
23:34And that's where the previous like owner, uh, his wife used to sit all the time.
23:39Uh, we put up dinner bell there, just a plain dinner bell.
23:42And we said, ma'am, if you're here, can you ring the bell?
23:44And the plunger on the bell went down and went ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
23:48Like somebody was tapping the bell.
23:49Are you for real?
23:50It's all on camera.
23:51We have that on our tech talk.
23:52Um, we had bread and pause, which are the motion detecting devices that also, uh, can detect EMF and, uh,
24:00temperature drops and rises.
24:02We had that, like, we had like four of those lined up from the kitchen all the way to that
24:05table.
24:06And I said, if there's anybody in the kitchen, come and come and sit down and talk to us.
24:10And one by one, each light went off walking straight to us.
24:14Wow.
24:15Um, the kitchen, we put equipment in the kitchen.
24:17We got EVPs in the kitchen.
24:19Uh, we got, uh, set up all of our equipment was set off.
24:22All our trigger objects were set off in every room in that bar.
24:26Um, we didn't catch her on camera, but I am very confident that I saw half of an apparition, not
24:33a full body, but like some of the side of the face and like the shoulder and arm.
24:39And I saw that like walking in from the street to the bar.
24:42And then later on, I found out one of the claims is that a woman is seen walking from the
24:48street into the bar because a woman was killed by a car, like hit by a car outside.
24:54And like, they say that her spirit walks in the bar.
24:57Um, and I saw that before I even knew that claim.
24:59And I was like, Whoa.
25:00And when you see an apparition, it's kind of like, you don't believe yourself.
25:03So it's like, no, I didn't just see that.
25:05That's wild.
25:05Like, that's not real.
25:07That's because it's so crazy.
25:08Right.
25:09Um, but no, I was confident that I saw it.
25:11And then, uh, in the basement, the basement, the husband used to hang out in the, there was an owner.
25:18Uh, he, he would say his name through our spirit box or his name multiple times.
25:22Uh, get out.
25:24And he said, Kaju Cafe.
25:25Like, it was, it was a wild, it was a wild place.
25:28That place is super active.
25:29But like, yeah, I think Kaju Cafe is always busy.
25:33It's always loud.
25:35It's packed with crowds, packed with live music.
25:37So like, when you go in these places, you don't really experience anything because you've got your sensor, you're, you
25:41know, you've got so much stuff going on.
25:43You don't really notice.
25:43But we went in there after hours.
25:46They gave us, they gave us the keys to the place, turned off all the lights.
25:49It's, it was like two or three in the morning when we were there.
25:52And we spent the, we spent the night there.
25:54And it was, it was a very active place.
25:56And that was just a one time you did that?
25:58Yep.
25:59We only investigated that place once.
26:01We'd love to go back, but we haven't set it up yet.
26:03And in that one time, the, the former female owner rang the bell.
26:08Yeah.
26:09We asked her if she was here to ring the bell and the bell rang.
26:12And then there were seven people in the room.
26:14And we said, ring the bell for how many people are in the room.
26:16And it rang seven times.
26:19And that was like, it's, uh, it was, it was perfect.
26:23And it was all on camera.
26:24All that stuff was recorded.
26:25It's all on our, uh, TikToks and stuff.
26:27Wow.
26:27That's incredible.
26:28So when did the, uh, owners, uh, I haven't been to the catchy cafe in years, but when did the
26:32owners, uh, that, that you're talking about, when did they pass away?
26:35Uh, I believe like early two thousands.
26:38Okay.
26:39Um, and then it changed hands twice, I think since then.
26:42And the new guy that owns it, he's really cool.
26:45Hmm.
26:45That's great.
26:46Yeah.
26:47Um, anything else that we should know about before we, uh, cut you loose here?
26:50I know you, you plugged all your stuff you have coming up, but, uh, of course you get your social
26:54media net.
26:55Is, is there, is there, is there a place that you want to tell us about, uh, other than what
26:58you already have?
27:01Oh, there's probably so many, huh?
27:04Yeah, there's, there's so many, uh, okay.
27:09I'll give you one that's kind of new on the block.
27:11A lot of people, this is kind of like some early access for paranormal people.
27:14Uh, the Yipsey performance center, performance space, sorry.
27:17In Ypsilanti, Michigan, it was a former congregational church.
27:20It's a beautiful stone church has a big stone tower.
27:24Uh, we investigated that for the first, we were the first people ever to start putting it to investigate.
27:28Um, and we got a lot of cool stuff.
27:31We, we, you can hear people walking on wood, even though the car, it was carpeted over.
27:37Um, we played wedding music and set up REM pods lining up to the altar and they all went down
27:42one by one.
27:43Hmm.
27:44Um, we had a spirit box up and we would start talking and something would go, shh, like stop talking.
27:50Like you're in church, right?
27:52Uh, shout out figures going behind the altar, going behind the pulpit.
27:56Like it was, it was, uh, it's a sweet place.
27:59And not a lot of people will know about that because we're the first ones ever investigated officially.
28:03And, uh, we haven't posted any of our findings because we're actually working with them on some cool stuff.
28:09Gotcha.
28:10All right.
28:11Well, you're up there on social media, Michigan goes paranormal.
28:14And of course, like you said, all your social medias, your Tik TOKs and Facebooks and whatnot.
28:18And I just want to thank you for your time, Justin.
28:20Maybe I will, uh, make my way down there to Eloise.
28:23I haven't been there and it's been a while, but like I said, that was probably the, uh, the biggest,
28:28uh, paranormal experience I've ever had was those screams.
28:32And here's the thing about those shrieks is that they didn't, I actually sent them to Steve Shippey and he
28:38said they sounded outer worldly or other worldly.
28:41I'm like, yeah, dude, it was, it wasn't like people that it just, it just didn't sound, you know, I
28:47can't even explain it.
28:48So.
28:49Yeah.
28:50We'll have to get you in here and just do a one-on-one.
28:52Just you, you and me and Eloise together, the only people in the building and see what you experience.
28:57Yeah.
28:57I think I'll pass, but.
29:01No, I'm kidding.
29:01All right, Justin.
29:03Well, listen, man, thanks.
29:03Happy haunting.
29:04Thank you so much for being part of a haunted Michigan for a 2026 here.
29:08And, uh, and we'll talk to you again soon.
29:10Okay.
29:11All right, sweet.
29:11Thanks.
