00:00New York's LaGuardia Airport has been known as one of the worst airports in the country.
00:08It's cramped.
00:09It's dirty.
00:10It's always under construction.
00:11I was honestly shocked.
00:12Oh my God.
00:12It's been under construction for years.
00:14Is it still under construction?
00:15It's still under construction.
00:16I've flown in there twice.
00:18And you know, like you think you're flying into New York, right?
00:21You're like, this is going to be.
00:22I couldn't believe what a crap hole it was.
00:25Really?
00:26Oh, it was gross.
00:26I've never been.
00:28It was totally gross.
00:29They were like, okay, you got to take a bus all the way over to here to go get your, to get a car.
00:34You know, like it's just been a nightmare for a lot of years.
00:37The bathroom looked like it was from like a dirty subway station.
00:40You know, like it was.
00:42So how old is that airport then?
00:43Well, they were redoing.
00:45They redid a terminal.
00:46Yeah, they did what?
00:47Not the one I was in.
00:48Yeah, I don't know how old it is.
00:50But anyway, if the construction and the crappiness of it all is not bad enough,
00:56you should see what the bars are charging for a beer.
00:59This is making the news now.
01:00One traveler this week ordered a Sam Adams.
01:04Okay.
01:04In a terminal bar.
01:05Yeah.
01:06Okay.
01:06What do you think?
01:07A Sam Adams.
01:08Even at the airport, what do you think you're going to pay?
01:10Five, six.
01:11I was going to say seven bucks to me is like the highest end.
01:14That's like concert beer prices.
01:16Yeah.
01:16$27.
01:17No!
01:18Oh my God, it's like Starbucks.
01:19So they're trying to get you not to drink?
01:21So you're not a maniac?
01:23Or what are they doing?
01:25$27 for the price of a Sam Adams.
01:27That didn't include the 10% COVID recovery fee added onto the bill as well.
01:33The traveler tweeted out the price and social media has gone crazy.
01:36It even led to the Port Authority of New York to respond by ordering an audit of prices in the terminal.
01:43Why are they trying to recover all the lost money?
01:46That's what it is.
01:47Yeah.
01:48They're trying to make it up.
01:49You don't even pay that for the nicest of cocktails at a nice place.
01:52No.
01:52Ever.
01:53I've never paid anything over that.
01:56That's just outrageous.
01:58I would say, no.
01:59No, I don't need a beer.
02:01Hopefully they tell people before they buy the thing.
02:03Like, you can get a case.
02:04You can walk out the door and get a case.
02:06Yeah.
02:07Yeah.
02:07It sounds like he had bought the beer and drank it.
02:10Is that what happened?
02:11No, he did, yeah.
02:11Because he just ordered a beer.
02:13He just drank his beer and then the bill came.
02:15Oh, yeah.
02:15You know how pissed you'd be?
02:17No, you'd smack someone right across the face.
02:20It's the wrong time to get people this fired up.
02:22Tear about beer.
02:24It's not good.
02:24A bunch of people are texting in saying Vegas is known for that, too.
02:27They had a cocktail at the pool.
02:29It was $25.
02:30Oh, my God.
02:31Beer was $27.
02:33Well, we got charged a whole bunch of money for a couple of bottles of water when we went
02:36out to dinner in Vegas at one time.
02:37Oh, yeah.
02:38I remember that.
02:38Nine bucks a bottle.
02:39We were, like, stunned.
02:41Yeah, I forgot what the question was they asked about the water, but we're like, oh, yeah,
02:43we'll take that kind of water.
02:44We just thought it was going to be water.
02:46Right.
02:46I think you guys were like, this was taken from a glacier.
02:49That's right.
02:50Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:52They asked you if you wanted tap water.
02:53Spring water or something?
02:54They were like, would you like tap water or delicious bottled spring water?
03:00We were like, well, obviously, we'll take the bottle.
03:02Who wants the dirty tap water?
03:04They really sold you tap water.
03:06How much was that water?
03:07I don't remember.
03:07Nine bucks a bottle.
03:09Glad Chuck remembered.
03:10Chuck, I know.
03:11Just dig into his Scottish brain.
03:13Nine bucks a bottle.
03:14Nine bucks a bottle.
03:14Yeah, we'll have another round of waters, please.
03:17Some people, it hits hard.
03:19Some people, you're like, are you serious right now?
03:25My father-in-law, we'd been to some places with my father-in-law, like a couple of nice
03:29dinners, you know, when he was still with us.
03:31And we'd have to hide the menu from him.
03:34Oh, I bet.
03:34Because if he saw the price.
03:36He'd leave, right?
03:37He would leave.
03:38Yeah.
03:38Like, he walked out of a Starbucks in Kentucky on our road trip because he saw the prices.
03:43Yeah.
03:43Right?
03:44We stopped.
03:44We went into the bathroom.
03:45We came out.
03:46I'm like, Abba, what can I get you?
03:47He's like, how much?
03:49I'm like, don't worry.
03:51What do you want?
03:52Yeah.
03:52And he's like, let me take a look.
03:55Four dollars?
03:57He's like, no.
03:59And he walked right out.
04:00My dad's the same exact way.
04:02Like, we would have like a birthday dinner for Rowan.
04:05So obviously, I'm going to, you know, I'm going to pay for Rowan's birthday dinner.
04:10And my dad's like, I'll take some curly fries.
04:15I'm like, Dad, what are you ordering?
04:19Just get curly fries.
04:21He's like, I don't need anything more than that, boy.
04:24I don't want to put any kind of financial burden on you, boy.
04:28I'm like, Dad, order whatever you want.
04:32I'm like, order whatever you want.
04:34We are just in like Red Robin.
04:37I don't know if that.
04:39I don't know if that's short.
04:41No, we don't.
04:41For Rowan's birthday?
04:43It's like Rowan's birthday.
04:45I'm in some local hamburger joint.
04:48You know, like a little pub.
04:49It's not that much there.
04:51That's what I mean.
04:51But he's just like, oh my God, $21.
04:55$21 for a full steak dinner.
04:59I'm like, Dad, that's fine.
05:01That's nothing.
05:02Curly fries.
05:04I'll just get, oh God, Linda.
05:07Linda, you should probably just get, I don't know, a salad.
05:10I'll get the curly fries.
05:11Order something.
05:15They're the same way.
05:17They're the same way.
05:19It's true.
05:19They feel so bad.
05:21The prices are so high.
05:22They can't believe it, right?
05:24It's just the old school generation.
05:26Yeah.
05:26And some of me gets it sometimes.
05:28You know, I'm like, I went through, again, I went through a Starbucks.
05:31I had to get Amber a coffee and Zane had like a refresher drink and it was nine bucks.
05:37What?
05:37Why is it this much?
05:38I could make this, I'm sure, for 72 cents.
05:40No.
05:40No.
