00:00I'm Sam and this is my plant shop, Grounded in Salicy.

00:03Brilliant. Tell me a little bit about the shop and I understand you've been,

00:09you're up for an award for a muddy stiletto.

00:11Yeah, so the shop is relatively new. We've been here for about 18 months now

00:15and we are at the heart of Marmion Road. We love being here. It's just the most

00:20wonderful place to be. We've been embraced by the community and I think people feel that this is a

00:26safe, happy, calm place to be. So we're very lucky to be very busy and we're super excited to be

00:32nominated for an award. We did win an award for being Portsmouth screen this business last year,

00:38so this is the second award we've been nominated for and I'm just so excited because it's voted

00:43for by our customers, by the people that come into the shop each day. Tell me what it would mean to

00:49win the category. We would love to win. We would absolutely love to win. I think it's been, before

00:54I had the shop, I was working on the market selling the plants for the last few years. So

00:58I've worked really hard to get where I am. I'm super lucky to have supportive family and friends

01:04and people that work with me and I think it would be a recognition of all that hard work and again,

01:10as it's voted for by the public, by the people that come into the shop, that's what means the most to us.

01:15Brilliant and tell me what makes the business so special?

01:17I think we specialise in easy to care for house plants. People have busy lives and don't want

01:25something that's going to make their, green up their space without it being too much hard work

01:29and we're passionate about what we do. We make lots of the products ourselves, so we make the cork pots.

01:35My mum makes the cork pots, my brother makes the wooden signs, my colleague Zoe makes the macrami,

01:39I make the wax mounts. So there are lots of things in store that make us different from everybody else,

01:43as well as having a huge variety of plants that we squeeze into a very small space.

01:50So we are in the Muddy Stilettos Award for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We're in the top five

02:10five-year contract for the premises. So we're going to be at 104 Marmee Road for at least the next five years.
