Bristol City Council will fund the repainting of road lines

00:00Faded white lines across roads in Bristol will be repainted this summer as maintenance

00:07budgets have been increased. Income from the clean air zone will be partly

00:13spent on increasing Bristol City Council's budget for road maintenance.

00:18For the next three years, £200,000 extra will be allocated for repainting white lines

00:26on roads. Councillors were updated on these plans to

00:29maintain the city's roads during a meeting on the Transport Policy Committee on Thursday

00:35March 20th. Green councillor Ed Plowden, chair of the

00:40Transport Committee said,

00:42Recently, we've upped the resources put into relining. We're going to see that really hitting

00:48the ground soon when the weather improves and we're able to do more.

00:54The white lines have faded from many roads in Bristol, causing confusion over where lanes

00:59are and who has priority. For example, the lines on the Bedminster Bridges roundabout

01:06are very faded. And the slip road coming off Brunel Way, joining

01:11the main road at the end of Coronation Road, has a very faint give way line that is often

01:16missed by drivers. Shaun Taylor, head of highways added,

01:21There's two additional crews on the network. We've allocated £200,000 to increase the

01:28funding on reinstating the lining across the city from the Clean Air Zone funding.

01:35That's a big increase to try and address the issues which have been highlighted by a number

01:40of councillors about the lining conditions across the network.
