Installation of a liveable neighbourhood trial in east Bristol has been paused after protesters repeatedly blocked contractors. Many of the changes to roads have not yet been actioned and plans have now been paused.

00:09blocked contractors from carrying out the works that were part of the scheme. Many of

00:15the neighbours have criticised the scheme that is a traffic-calming project with the

00:20aim to prevent drivers from cutting through residential roads in St George, Redfield,

00:27Barton Hill in Bristol. Some of the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood trial measures have

00:34already been installed, however the majority of these changes to the roads as part of the

00:40trial area have yet to be rolled out but they will now be put on pause. Bristol City Council

00:48had faced strong opposition from some people living in the area because their journeys

00:54may become longer. The final decision on the trial is yet to be made.
