00:07works are set to hit everything, everywhere and all at once. Why? Well, time is running

00:14out to spend a whopping £540 million. That's how much the government gave the West of England

00:22back in 2022 to transform the transport across Bristol, Bath and South Gloucestershire.

00:29The catch? Every penny has to be spent by March 2027 or it's gone. That means over the next

00:38two years we'll see a surge of simultaneous road works from new bus lanes on Bond Street

00:44and Redcliffe roundabout to over a kilometre of new bike paths and the East Bristol liveable

00:51neighbourhood road. One of the biggest pinching points is the Bedminster

00:57bridges roundabout. It's being turned into a single controlled junction, one bridge for

01:03cars, the other for bikes and buses. But this is already one of the city's most congested

01:09areas and diverting traffic could cause chaos across South Bristol. Transport bosses admit

01:16that the scale of disruption is a real concern. Green councillor Ed Plowden warns the biggest

01:21risk is just how much is happening all at once. The City Council and the West of England combined

01:27authority are scrambling to coordinate contractors, juggle project timelines and even boost park

01:34and ride buses to keep Bristol moving. But with the clock ticking, the plans still being finalised,

01:41drivers should get ready for a bumpy ride.
