00:00The exclusion of Charles Blair, Goudet and Laurent Gbagbo from the Ivorian electoral list is drawing strong reaction.
00:08As the 2025 presidential election approaches, both men were sentenced to 20 years in prison for their roles in the 2010-2011 post-election crisis.
00:17However, after being issued amnesty by international justice, the youth and the People's Congress, also known as COJE,
00:24denounced the exclusion as a threat to democracy and calls for the reinstatement of their leaders.
00:32It's not just a candidacy that is being blocked, it's the people's right to freely choose their leaders that is being confiscated.
00:39An election that excludes is an election that divides, and a divided election is a threat to peace.
00:46We call for the restoration of President Charles Blair Goudet's rights and his reinstatement on the electoral list so that he can participate in the 2025 election.
00:58Meanwhile, the other opposition party, the PPA, has vowed to exhaust all legal avenues available under the constitution,
01:05while also protesting the failure to implement a ruling by the African Court of Justice which mandated Gbagbo's reinstatement on the electoral list.
01:14We, the PPA party, will fight to ensure that Laurent Gbagbo can run in the presidential election and win.
01:20That is our mission. In this mission, we want peace, and also a very peaceful elections.
01:27We want fair, democratic, inclusive and calm elections.
01:31On March 22nd, a 15-day dispute period will allow for claims regarding omitted registrations, voter removals or material errors.
01:40The definitive list is expected by June 20th.
01:43The two parties are now urging their supporters to engage with this critical period leading up to the highly anticipated election on October 25, 2025.
