00:00Rockridge Stud has added two new stallions to its growing roster.
00:07Chewing Gum brings the desirable Candy Ride family to New York, while Messier brings the
00:12Empire State his high cruising speed.
00:16Also, we checked in on the first pulls by American Revolution.
00:21The new stallion that we're bringing for 2025 is Chewing Gum.
00:24He's the only son of Candy Ride that's standing in New York right now.
00:28He was good on turf, dirt, and synthetic.
00:32He's a horse that a lot of breeders can get behind, a lot of racing people can get behind.
00:37He was successful on the racetrack, and he was sound.
00:40A lot of people want that in the new industry, and with the new Belmont coming in with the
00:44new synthetic, this horse will fit that bill.
00:47Chewing Gum was campaigned by Adam Wachtell and Dr. Schleifer, which is Pantoffel Stables.
00:55They got together and went to Keeneland and bought some mares specifically for Chewing Gum.
01:02And they also have had a very strong incentive for people that want to contribute to Chewing
01:09Gum by supporting him with two mares for three years.
01:13One of our new stallions for this year is Messier.
01:16He's the only son of Empire Maker that's standing in New York.
01:20When we saw him in Kentucky, loved him at first sight.
01:24We knew he would work for New York just because he was very impressive, pretty, and with his
01:29race record.
01:31As a two-year-old, started out and won by six lengths, did phenomenal, went on, and
01:37then in his three-year-old year, the first he ran and won Bob Lewis by 15 lengths and
01:43had a buyer speed figure of 103.
01:47If you look at him, you can see why he was such a good racehorse, because he's got all
01:51the parts of a tremendous athlete.
01:54A few years ago, the stallion market was kind of a little on a lull.
02:00And we looked at what we could do to rejuvenate everybody to get more involvement in the stallion
02:06business.
02:07Instead of trying to do just your own thing, we went with a few of the farms and sat down
02:14and said, let's get a horse.
02:16And at that time, it was mind control.
02:18Let's go in on a horse and get together and participate as a group.
02:23In supporting him, we bred 191 mares on mind control's first year at stud.
02:29He was a legitimate racehorse that could have stood in Kentucky.
02:33After that, we had several other stallions that we did the same thing with.
02:36We followed up with American Revolution.
02:39Windstar had him campaigned, and when they wanted to retire, we got in touch with them
02:44and they kind of helped us.
02:46And we formed another big group to support a stallion that multiple farms are involved.
02:52American Revolution has his first foals with us this year, and they did not disappoint.
02:58All of them came out very nice, good size, very flashy, which we didn't expect, a lot
03:02of white, a lot of chrome.
03:04And on top of them, there was a lot of substance to these foals.
03:07And I think in the future, that's our model that will stick and you have to incorporate
03:13different breeders, different farms, and grow our stallion population in New York.
