00:00The Philippine Navy's unilateral gunnery drill earlier today, using live rounds performed
00:05according or even above expectations, given targets still being hit in the live fire exercises
00:10despite the rough seas, constant maneuvers and uninterrupted communications, prove the
00:14Philippine Navy is more than able to and prepped to engage in surface warfare operations under
00:20the harshest conditions, as our Patrick D'Souza reports.
00:28The Philippine Navy successfully conducted a unilateral and gunnery exercise on Monday
00:34in the vicinity of Bajo de Masinloc, participating in the exercise were the Guided Missile Frigate
00:41BRP Ocerizal, Offshore Patrol Vessel BRP Ramon Alcaraz, and Landing Dock Ship BRP Tarlac.
00:49The drills, carried out amid rough seas, included live fire drills, maneuvering, and communication
00:56exercises.
00:57The Navy is prepared to conduct surface warfare operations under any conditions and I am very
01:05glad to report that both PS-16 and FF-150, despite the very harsh conditions yesterday,
01:12were able to hit the target.
01:18No Chinese vessels were monitored in the vicinity.
01:21This does not send any particular message to anybody.
01:24We are focused on ensuring the operational readiness of all our assets and our ability
01:30to conduct unilateral and unilateral joint and combined exercises with everybody.
01:36Meanwhile, in February, a total of 19 vessels from the PLA Navy and China Coast Guard were
01:43monitored in Bajo de Masinloc and Ayungin Shoal.
01:47The Philippines continues to conduct regular maritime patrols and aerial surveillance flights
01:53in the West Philippine Sea.
01:55The Philippine Navy has a regular patrol plan and we keep challenging them each time we
02:00monitor a warship, not only in Ayungin Shoal, but even all over the West Philippine Sea.
02:05The Navy reiterated the presence of Chinese vessels within the Philippines' Exclusive
02:10Economic Zone is illegal.
