00:00Independent preacher Zamri Vinod has accepted MIC Deputy President M Saravanan's challenge
00:07to a debate on Hinduism following public outrage over his remarks on the Kavadi ritual.
00:12Zamri confirmed his willingness to debate in a Facebook post late last night.
00:17In response, Saravanan said the debate would focus on Zamri's claim that Hindu worshippers
00:22performing the Kavadi ritual appeared to be possessed and drunk on toddy.
00:26In a Facebook post, he proposed that the debate be held on March 23rd with Dewan Bahasa
00:31Tamil Malaysia as the organiser.
00:34As for the venue, he said Zamri could select any location in Kuala Lumpur.
00:38He added that it was strange that Zamri accepted the debate challenge but disabled the comments
00:42section on his Facebook post.
00:44The challenge to debate arose after the backlash sparked by Zamri's remarks on the Kavadi
00:48ritual with Saravanan urging his arrest under the Security Offences Act.
00:53His latest remarks came amid public anger over three Ara FM radio hosts who were widely
00:58criticised for mocking the same Hindu practice.
