But why is road tax changing? Well, car tax tends to change frequently, with it being typical to see a slight increase in live with other rates of inflation.

00:00Road tax in the UK itself currently is split into two main rates. The first rate applies

00:07to the new car's first year on the road and varies dependent on the amount of CO2 it emits.

00:14Once the car has been on the road for a year, the vehicle is taxed by a second system. This

00:19is determined by how much the car cost when it was new. Now, previously, electric vehicles

00:25were exempt from road tax, but this new system, which is set to come into place,

00:31means that zero-emission vehicles will be subject to road tax for the first time.

00:55When it comes to Britain's roads, there are a range of driver behaviours which

01:06lead to fatalities. In fact, the National Police Chief's Council has coined the term

01:12the fatal four in order to describe the main causes for fatal accidents on UK roads. Now,

01:19the fatal four includes speeding, which is the biggest cause for fatal road accidents in the UK.

01:27It also includes driving when under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which is the second biggest

01:33reason for accidents in the UK. Not wearing a seatbelt and driving while using a mobile phone

01:40are also recorded in the list. As a result of this, understanding the RAC has since campaigned

01:47for the government to focus on avoidable road casualties in the UK's road safety strategy.

01:54In fact, further data from the RAC has found that excessive speeding is now commonplace on all UK

02:01roads. This comes after it was found that 8 in 10 drivers say they regularly see people speeding

02:07on all types of roads. The RAC found that speed limit compliance saw the sharpest increase on

02:1420 miles per hour roads, while almost half the drivers speed over the limit. Furthermore,

02:20drivers have admitted to speeding on motorways more often than on any other type of road.
