00:00The National Museum of the Philippines Bicol will continue to conduct a workshop

00:04to further promote the abaca weaving industry in the province.

00:08This is Paul Hapina, Radyo Pilipinas Albay for Balitang Pambansa.

00:14The women are doing the abaca weaving manually.

00:20The threads they will get here will be used for weaving.

00:26This is part of the two-day abaca processing and weaving workshop

00:31of the National Museum of the Philippines Bicol

00:34and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority

00:37this National Women's Month.

00:39We have our master artisans from Maliliput, Albay.

00:44They will teach abaca weaving

00:48and extract abaca fiber locally.

00:54This morning, we were able to extract the abaca fiber.

01:00The two-day lecture, demonstration, and workshop

01:05will be free for 20 women from Sorsogon Province.

01:09The museum also aims to promote the freedom of the public

01:12about the culture of abaca

01:14and the important role it plays in the Bicol people.

01:19PhilFIDA is proud of this program of the National Museum.

01:23It encourages farmers to continue planting abaca

01:27especially its top producer, the Bicol Region.

01:30This helps inform the public

01:36about the importance of abaca

01:40in the Philippines and in the Philippines.
