00:00President, today the circle of an important path closes. I want to ask you how this nth adventure has gone.
00:14We are very satisfied with the path that has been carried out. Consider that it is a huge result for us.
00:22It is the result of a fund that comes from 2011, which has been spent in a project of co-design and co-programming between a public entity such as Regione Calabria and a non-profit entity such as Isla.
00:40In addition, with this course, we have finally reached another important goal, that of guaranteeing our families, our COSLA people,
01:00the possibility of being able to access a list of people who are trained as family assistants specialized in COSLA care.
01:12Therefore, it is an absolutely important goal and we hope to be able to continue in the future with other courses of this kind, because the number, compared to the needs, is really equal.
01:26There is a need for trained and above all qualified staff and that has specific skills to stand by these families.
01:35What did you learn during this course?
01:41Yes, the course was structured with 72 hours of class and then they carried out shootings, both at the San Vitaliano Clinical Center, which is the first in Calabria to assist these patients.
01:57Therefore, they had the opportunity to see how a direct care patient is managed and, at the same time, also thanks to the availability of some families, they carried out shootings directly to the families.
02:09Therefore, they have acquired not only practical skills in management, but above all, from a human point of view, they have been able to touch with the hand what it means for a patient to live in COSLA
02:19and therefore learn to empathize with the family, the patient, also at the level of communication that is now between these people.
02:29We know that a COSLA patient unfortunately also loses the ability to communicate, so it is essential to know how to use all the tools that still manage to guarantee the minimum possible dialogue.
02:43These are skills that, unfortunately, you do not acquire if you are not trained by specialized technical staff and that is what we have provided.
02:54The staff of the doctors to whom we have attached, who come from our centers in Emo, who have carried out these theoretical lessons, of the great centers of excellence, let's say Italian.
03:04One last question, is the relationship with the Calabrian region re-established?
03:09Yes, ISLA has always collaborated with the institutions in a profitable dialogue precisely to build, together with the region, ASLs, health centers, municipalities, etc.,
03:25to guarantee dignity to these people who have received such a complex diagnosis as that of ASLA and that requires real help from everyone and a network, let's say, not only family, but also institutional, formal and informal associations.
