00:0023 schools across the Liverpool City region have been included in the
00:03government's rollout of free breakfast clubs for all children.
00:07Wirral is set for the most schools in the city region for the new clubs to be
00:10rolled out with seven schools included. Out of 750 schools across the country
00:16nearly 11,000 pupils across the North West are expected to benefit as part
00:20of the first phase of the scheme. 105 schools in the North West will be
00:24offered the scheme from April which is focusing on the most
00:27disadvantaged communities. The government said this would put
00:31£450 a year back into parents' pockets.
00:34Following on from promises in its election manifesto, the Labour government
00:37said all primary age children in early adopter schools will be able to access a
00:41free breakfast and at least 30 minutes of free child care
00:45every day, helping to support parents getting into
00:47work by dropping their children off half an hour earlier.
00:50Schools will be encouraged to offer healthy, varied and
00:53nutritious breakfasts with examples from Weetabix and porridge
00:57to fresh fruit and yoghurt.
