There are moves to change the school holiday system to make it easier and cheaper for families, especially those on lower incomes, to take children away during term time. What do you think about that idea?

00:00To be honest, I think the problem lies in a way with the companies who scale up the prices during those term times.
00:07I've always thought that's been really harsh.
00:09It's why it sadly encourages parents to take the kids out of school and go on holiday in term time, which damages their education.
00:20There's people who haven't got the money, you know what I mean?
00:24And they can't afford it.
00:27And there's people who work and can afford it.
00:29I think it's wrong that families with children are penalised for going away during the six weeks, middle of July to the end of August, and Easter as well.
00:42It's wrong whether that system needs change or maybe even look at the school year, maybe to shorten the summer holiday.
00:50Maybe you could have laws against the dynamic pricing.
00:52Maybe that probably wouldn't go down very well.
00:54But at the same time, I think the schools and the parents, I can understand it from both perspectives.
