00:00Like it or not, the ranks of the Philippine National Police has a number of bad apples
00:04in the mix.
00:05And not weeding them out can spoil a good part of the basket.
00:09Arayan Lasigas tells us more on PNP Chief Marbil not letting up on separating the grain
00:14from the chaff in this report.
00:18In the pursuit of maintaining the high integrity of the entire National Police Force, the PNP
00:23continues its relentless efforts to purge corrupt police officers.
00:27From April 1, 2024 to February 12, 2025, a total of 753 PNP personnel was dismissed
00:35from service due to various cases.
00:38This includes close to 500 personnel who took absences without leave, illegal drug use,
00:44extortion, rape, homicide, and other offenses.
00:47PNP Chief Police General Romel Francisco Marbil emphasized that there is no place in the organization
00:53for police officers who violate the law.
00:55Nevertheless, the PNP Chief assured all dismissal cases underwent due process, fair, and thorough
01:01administrative review.
01:02Marbil also reiterated that the PNP's mandate is simple, to serve and protect the public,
01:07not to instill fear.
01:09He also stressed the importance of accountability within the PNP.
01:13The ongoing internal cleansing in the PNP aims to strengthen public trust in the government.
01:17To maintain public trust, the PNP will continue implementing ethics training, internal audits,
01:22and performance monitoring to ensure its officers remain competent and trustworthy.
