00:00The Philippine National Police, or PNP, has assured the public its revitalized Oplan-Katok

00:04program is not a tool for political intimidation, but a legal and effective campaign against loose

00:10firearms. PNP Chief General Romel Marbil emphasized that the program is a lawful and

00:16proactive measure fully compliant with the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation

00:21Act. He also explained that under this program, police officers deliver formal notices and

00:27conduct house visits to remind gun owners with expiring licenses to renew them or surrender

00:33their firearms. Marbil further clarified the program has been in place for years and claims

00:38that it could be used for political purposes, especially during the election period,

00:43is unfounded and purely speculative.
