00:00The National Bureau of Investigation, or NBI, has expressed its readiness to investigate if any senator formally files a complaint
00:08regarding former President Rodrigo Duterte's threats against 15 senators during a PDP-Laban campaign rally in San Juan City.
00:16NBI Director Jamie Santiago clarified that under their mandate, they can only initiate a motu proprio investigation
00:26if the threat involves one of the country's five highest-ranking officials—the President, Vice President, Senate President,
00:34House Speaker, or Chief Justice. As of now, no senator has approached the agency to request an inquiry.
00:42However, Santiago said that the NBI would assess all angles of the case if a complaint is filed,
00:49including Duterte's delivery of the statement and the seriousness of the threat.
00:54Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, or the PNP-CIDG,
01:02has already filed complaints against Duterte before the Department of Justice for inciting to sedition
01:10and unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances.
01:15We need senators who think that they are being threatened to come to us and we will take action.
