00:00The impeachment bid to oust Vice President Sara Duterte for misuse of confidential funds may not
00:05be dead. But with Congress set to go on break for the midterm polls and the three impeachment
00:10complaints still to be officially filed with the House Speaker, they may well be on life
00:15support and headed for a coma. Our Melanies Moras tells us more.
00:24Anything is possible.
00:26House Secretary General Reginald Velasco firmly stated the three impeachment complaints filed
00:31against Vice President Sara Duterte at the House of Representatives are not dead. This amidst calls
00:37from some groups for the lawmakers to act on it the soonest possible time before the session break.
00:43In an interview, Velasco said the complaints will be transmitted to the House Speaker's
00:47office this week. It took a bit longer as they tried to wait for a possible fourth complaint
00:52to be filed. But.
00:57You know, I think we have given them enough time. So we will have to transmit the impeachment
01:04complaints within this week. Gabriela Partili's representative Arlene Brosas, one of the endorsers
01:10of the second impeachment complaint said, but if not now, they believe it might not make it through
01:15at all.
01:22It's the last session week of Congress before they go on break for the midterm elections.
01:32That's why committee hearings were held left and right today. For its part, the House Committee
01:36on Good Government and Public Accountability continued its discussion on various electricity
01:41issues in the country.
01:52Tomorrow, the House Tri-Committee is also set to conduct its first public hearing
02:10on fake news and disinformation. House Committee on Public Order and Safety Chair Dan Fernandez,
02:15who will lead the hearing, said around 40 social media personalities are expected to participate,
02:21along with representatives from major social media platforms in the country such as Facebook,
02:26TikTok, and others. Fernandez emphasized that every Filipino has the right to the truth,
02:31and the public must be protected from misinformation and disinformation,
02:35which she believes causes fear and division in the country.
