00:03A Derbyshire water sports company manufacturing clothing for Olympic athletes

00:08has been granted approval to set up a new canal side base.

00:11Derbyshire Dales District Council members granted approval to Peak UK Kayaking to redevelop the

00:17former Cromford Garden Centre site on the A6 next to the canal. Pete Assells, who runs Peak UK

00:24Kayaking, told the meeting how the firm designed and manufactured kits for numerous Olympic teams

00:29at the London, Rio, Tokyo and Parish competitions, including for many winning athletes.

00:35The base, now approved, would also provide canal side facilities for Paddle Peak,

00:40the company's charity which provides children with the opportunity to take part in kayaking

00:45and also helps to clear litter from the River Derwent.

00:48Cromford Garden Centre, which closed in 2006, has become a derelict and dangerous site,

00:53said Mr Assell, which has become a haven for urban explorers, but would now be given a new

00:58lease of life, including providing 12 new jobs. A lucky mum scooped a £50,000 jackpot at a

01:07Chesterfield bingo hall just days before giving birth to her seventh child. The winner, who wishes

01:13to remain anonymous, said, I just couldn't believe it. It was all such a shock and it couldn't have

01:18come at a better time, as I gave birth the week after I'd won. As a big family, we've never been

01:24abroad, but are now planning our first holiday to Spain. I'm sure we're going to make some

01:29incredible memories together and I've got Mecca Bingo to thank.
