00:00The Miami Dolphins have hired Bobby Slowick as their passing game coordinator.
00:05He was canned as the Texans offensive coordinator.
00:10So he is he is now in the fold.
00:13So my question is this.
00:16Yep.
00:20There's a couple of things I want to see go away in the offense.
00:26Because I'm tired of seeing the results.
00:30And the success of said play, I'm getting ready to mention.
00:35Does not, is not greater than the failures of said play.
00:41If I see one more damn bubble screen to anybody, I'm gonna lose.
00:46So the first thing he is gonna do as passing game coordinator.
00:52Yep.
00:55Crumble it up.
00:57Yeah, because how many times did we see that play ran?
01:01And it was second and 13th, second and 14th.
01:05So yeah, no, there is a specific time when you run that.
01:13One of the reasons why it worked the year before, and
01:18people don't understand this, is that they were playing off so
01:23much on Tyreek Hill and Jalen Wilder because they didn't want to get beat deep
01:28because Tyreek was killing them down the field.
01:32So he didn't get any press coverage.
01:35So then you run that bubble screen and
01:37you can get blockers down the field on those guys.
01:41This year they played a little tighter.
01:44So when the bubble screen was thrown,
01:46there's a guy who's guarding him, who chases him back there.
01:49So yeah, let's do away with that.
01:56We'll see, yeah, we'll see.
01:57I know that Dead South is saying that there is some buzz that this may mean
02:02Mike McDaniel is giving up play calling.
02:04We'll see.
02:06Can I clarify this?
02:09Yeah, you can.
02:11Giving up play calling.
02:13Giving up play calling or calling plays is no big deal.
02:21Here's why.
02:23In your preparation during the week, as a unit, the offense coordinator,
02:30whoever's gonna call the plays, the quarterback, the offensive line coach,
02:35they all talk about what plays should work against a said defense.
02:41Mm-hm.
02:42We practice a lot more plays than on the play sheet during the game.
02:50So by the time it gets to the game and the game sheet, and
02:55we see what we have, right?
02:58Everybody on the offensive side of the ball has an idea
03:04of what plays are gonna be called in certain situations.
03:07So the fact of you may have five plays for this situation,
03:11seven plays for this situation, depending on what formations you wanna go with.
03:17We already know what plays are gonna be called.
03:20So the fact that one person is voicing that over another person
03:26really doesn't matter that much, but people think it does.
03:30All the work has already been done.
03:33So from that standpoint, when you go from one play caller to another,
03:38it really doesn't matter, because during the week is when you fix all that.
03:45Now in the offseason, I'm more than sure after watching 17 bubble screens for
03:52loss, they gonna all come to the conclusion that we ought to let this one go.
03:57Yeah, but I think it probably goes to like this,
03:59like you look at what happened with the Eagles last year.
04:01Like Nick Sirianni gave it up and kind of focused more on just running the team.
04:06He gives it over to somebody like Kellen Moore.
04:08I understand.
04:10So I think if it goes to Beville, if it goes to Slovic,
04:14I don't think it's like Mike McDaniel's input's not gonna be there at all.
04:17But I do think that very clearly there was, I don't know,
04:21running of the team slippage that seemed to happen last year with all this lateness.
04:24Maybe he felt like, maybe there's a part of Mike McDaniel that feels like
04:28it's more important to just be a leader of the team and
04:31have an oversee over everything than just the micromanaging of it.
04:35I get that could all very well be true.
04:38But what I'm trying to avoid is people
04:44using that as a reason as to why the offense didn't look as good, right?
04:51Who calls the plays on game day, right?
04:57Is not as important as the plays that you have determined you're gonna run
05:01during the week.
05:03And I don't know whether the offensive coordinator or
05:07that guy will help that portion of it.
05:11But by the time you get to game day, the passing coordinator and
05:15all and whoever ends up calling the plays,
05:19all the stuff that plagued them last year will already be fixed.
05:24And the play calling is just an additional thing.
05:27So I get what everybody thinks.
05:30You say, you can just concentrate on this or concentrate on that.
05:38Yeah, but he's an offensive guy, right?
05:43And I've heard many a times where we'd be running offense and
05:49I'd be standing next to Denny and Denny will say to Brian Billick.
05:55Hey, let's run the ball more, right?
05:59So whoever's calling the plays don't matter because that's what we're running.
