Kali Reis stops to chat with THR at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards carpet and shares her gratitude for 'True Detective: Night Country' and the positive reviews. Plus, she says she has no problem reading reviews and appreciates "every opinion."

00:00Well, congratulations on this and all the attention True Detective has gotten.

00:05What has that meant to kind of get it from both the fans and like the critics and obviously

00:09from this side?

00:10Well, first of all, to be able to be a part of this amazing story under the True Detective

00:14umbrella, it's such a big, big part of everybody's TV history and just to be able to have that

00:21representation as an indigenous Cape Verdean woman and for it to be out in the world and

00:24to have this amazing story, it means a lot to get the recognition from the critics.

00:28So we put in a lot of work telling this great story.

00:30Do you read reviews or how do you kind of approach that side of things?

00:34You know, coming from the wonderful world of boxing and knowing there's critics out

00:37there and there's reviews, I'm, you know, I have kind of like a really tough skin for

00:41that.

00:42So I do, I get, I read them sometimes, you know, kind of what gets sent to me and I'll

00:46read and I'll just, it's entertainment and, you know, everybody has an opinion and everybody's

00:49entitled to it.

00:50I appreciate every, every, every opinion.

00:52Yeah.

00:53And you guys have been on this True Detective journey for a while now.

00:57What's kind of been the highlight of, of this ride?

00:59The fact that I keep getting to hang out with my friends, you know, we really became really

01:03good friends through this whole process.

01:04So it's just an excuse to hang out with them and, and relive this whole experience.

01:08So it's been, that's been the highlight.

01:10Any favorite films this year that you're rooting for on the, on the film side of things?

01:15I mean, just to be nominated amongst all these films and all these TV shows with all these

01:18amazing artists.

01:19I'm just happy for everyone.

01:20I didn't, unfortunately, you know, I didn't get to see everybody's movie, but I just think

01:25everybody who's listed here, all the nominees.

01:26I did see Wicked.

01:27I will, you know, loved Wicked.

01:29I'm a musical music buff, so I'm just really excited for everybody who got nominated.

01:34So good luck to everybody.
