Caroline Kennedy urges senators to reject her cousin RFK Jr.’s nomination

Caroline Kennedy appealed to senators to reject the nomination of her cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as health secretary, calling him “unqualified."

00:07agencies that are charged with protecting the most vulnerable among us,

00:11is an enormous responsibility, and one that Bobby is unqualified to fill.

00:16I've known Bobby my whole life. We grew up together.

00:19It's no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets, because Bobby himself is a predator.

00:26Today, while he may encourage a younger generation to attend AA meetings,

00:32Bobby is addicted to attention and power.

00:36Bobby preys on the desperation of parents of sick children,

00:40vaccinating his own kids,

00:42while building a following hypocritically discouraging other parents from vaccinating theirs.

00:47The American health care system, for all its flaws, is the envy of the world.

00:52These doctors and nurses, researchers, scientists, and caregivers are the most dedicated people I know.

00:59Every day, they give their lives to heal and save others.

01:03They deserve a knowledgeable leader who is committed to evidence and excellence.

01:09They deserve a secretary committed to advancing cutting-edge medicine to save lives,

01:15not to rejecting the advances we have already made.

01:19They deserve a stable, moral, and ethical person at the helm of this crucial agency.

01:25They deserve better than Bobby Kennedy, and so do the rest of us.

01:29I urge the Senate to reject his nomination.
