00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Low pressure remains
00:05very much in charge of our weather over the next couple of days, all thanks to a very
00:08strong jet stream out in the Atlantic, allowing low pressure to barrel towards the UK into
00:13the start of the new working week. It's this area of low pressure that we're watching at
00:16the moment, arriving later through Sunday and into Monday, bringing some strong winds
00:20and some heavy rain, particularly to southern areas, but also some milder air too, so temperatures
00:23returning a little above average by the time we get to Monday. Back to what we've got out
00:28there at the moment though, and a band of showery rain across Northern Ireland spreads
00:31its way eastwards into parts of Northern England, into Scotland too. We could see some sleet
00:36and snow, particularly over any high ground, but generally that rain fizzling out across
00:40much of England into the early hours of Sunday morning. We'll then see some clear spells
00:44developing behind, and that will allow temperatures to drop a little below freezing, particularly
00:48across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland during the early hours of Sunday morning,
00:51so some frost and perhaps some ice likely to start on Sunday. A little bit of a milder
00:57and cloudier start across much of England and Wales though, outbreaks of heavy rain
01:00soon arriving across the south-west, spreading north and eastwards through Sunday morning.
01:05There could be some quite heavy downpours here, particularly across parts of Wales,
01:08south-west England, and then later into parts of Northern Ireland, northern England and
01:12eastern parts of England too. Scotland always holding on to that dry weather for a little
01:16longer, perhaps some sunshine through the afternoon, but heavy blustery showers soon
01:20feeding into the south-west. And with that south-westerly breeze just drawing up some
01:24slightly milder air here, so temperatures a little above average, 10 or 11 degrees as
01:28a maximum, but generally elsewhere those temperatures are round about average for the time of year.
01:32As we then go through the rest of Sunday evening, heavy and blustery showers continuing to pile
01:38in across the south-west, and that weather front spreading its way northwards into parts
01:41of Scotland again, perhaps falling asleep in snow over any high ground into the early
01:46hours of Monday morning. Further outbreaks of rain arriving across the south-east, this
01:50heading north and eastwards again, but perhaps could cause some spray on the roads during
01:54Monday morning's rush hour. And further heavy blustery showers feeding into the south-west
01:59into the start of the new working week. With all that cloud and rain around and those strong
02:03winds too, likely to be a bit of a milder night and a milder start to the day on Monday.
02:09Temperatures widely in the mid to high single figures. So a damp and windy start for many
02:14of us on Monday morning. Heavy blustery showers feeding in from the south-west, these perhaps
02:19merging to longer spells of rain across parts of Northern Ireland, Wales and northern parts
02:23of England and even into southern parts of Scotland too. There will be some plenty of
02:26blustery showers as well across the far north of Scotland, and those again merging to longer
02:31spells of rain across western parts, although perhaps staying a little drier across the
02:34south-east through Monday afternoon. With those brisk south-westerly winds, we're feeding
02:39in that milder air, as I mentioned, temperatures 9, 10, perhaps 11 degrees and 6 or 7 further
02:44north. So quite widely a little above average for the time of year. Further wet and windy
02:50weather is likely as we head through much of next week, so do make sure you hit subscribe
