00:00Agriculture and Food Security Minister Muhammad Sabu says he will only step down from his
00:06position if Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim tells him to do so.
00:10Muhammad was responding to former Deputy Law Minister Hanipah Maiden, who challenged him
00:15to resign if the government continued to block an anti-corruption rally in Kuala Lumpur this
00:19afternoon.
00:20It was previously reported by Malaysia Kini that Hanipah said he had been arrested several
00:25times when defending the Amana president's right to participate in peaceful assemblies.
00:31At a press conference at Amana's annual national convention, Muhammad said Hanipah
00:35is free to express his opinion in a democratic world.
00:38Muhammad, who is better known as Matt Sabu, also said that Amana members may choose to
00:43attend the rally if they wish to, as he had no problem with that.
00:47Meanwhile, on Amana youths' so-called more measured response to the recent controversy
00:52over a pre-packed chicken, ham and cheese sandwich, Muhammad said the youth wing had
00:56been advised to avoid making racially charged statements.
