00:00So we work with all the businesses in Durham City, so we try to put on events and projects and promotions that make it a nicer place to visit.
00:10Durham Restaurant Week is something we started around three or four years ago now, and really it's for the restaurants taking part,
00:17it's to try and attract new people through the door who might not have visited before,
00:20and it's to bring back the people who are regular visitors as well to give them a really good deal.
00:26For the consumers, it's just the opportunity to come out into Durham and try something new.
00:32So we encourage everybody to take part if they are selling food or drink, we want them to take part in the campaign.
00:38So it isn't just a sit-down restaurant if anyone is worried about whether they can take part or not.
00:44We encourage participation from anybody that sells food or drink.
00:49To the Restaurant Week itself, yeah, it's kind of growing every year that we do this now,
00:54so there's over 50 businesses taking part in the Restaurant Week this time.
00:58So whether you want a full meal or a coffee and a cake, there's something that you will find in Durham City Centre.
01:05It's a good opportunity really for what can be a traditionally quieter time of the year for restaurants and hospitality.
01:13So in January, we promote the Restaurant Week as a way to get people back out into the streets and into the restaurants again.
01:21Can you tell us of any other upcoming events for 2025?
01:25Yeah, there's lots going on this year, so the next events coming up will be the Lunar New Year on Saturday 1st February.
01:31So that's a full day programme, well there's all sorts going on, there's parades through the streets,
01:36dragon dances, lion dances, all sorts of things happening then.
01:39And then towards the end of February, we have our annual Fire and Ice event.
01:44So we're taking our visitors on a musical journey this year, so we theme the event every year.
01:49It's ice sculptures all around Durham City, a lot of them are interactive,
01:53and we just encourage everybody to come and visit that one, it's a really good event, one that I really enjoy.
