00:00
Now we focus on the NFC South, where for four consecutive years with two different quarterbacks,
00:06
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won the divisional crown.
00:08
The final two years with Tom Brady, actually not the Super Bowl year, oddly enough in Tampa,
00:14
they were a wild card team that season.
00:16
And even with Baker Mayfield, an NFC South divisional title last year, a home playoff
00:22
win, an NFC South divisional crown this year came up short, as we know, against the Commanders
00:28
on Sunday night.
00:30
But DRS, the Buccaneers, have not been priced as the NFC South favorites entering a year
00:36
since Tom Brady's time in Tampa Bay.
00:39
Might they be this upcoming season?
00:41
You can see the odds right there.
00:43
The Bucs had the second best price, but plenty of plus money at plus 310.
00:48
The Falcons, after the offseason acquisition of Kirk Cousins, quickly became the minus
00:53
money favorite to win the NFC South, and even sweeping Tampa throughout the regular
00:59
season could not get that done.
01:01
In fact, losing the regular season finale in overtime against the Carolina Panthers.
01:06
So now entering 2025, still with a full offseason ahead of us, the buy or sell question to you DRS
01:13
is this, the Buccaneers will open as odds on, that's minus money, NFC South favorites
01:19
entering 2025.
01:21
I'm buying that.
01:22
I'm going to buy that.
01:22
And I do think it's going to be close.
01:24
But if you look at the four teams in that division, you start with the Buccaneers.
01:27
Well, Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback in that division.
01:29
That's usually going to get a massive hand up over the next season.
01:32
And it's the next two to three years, as you should, unless you have one of these younger
01:36
quarterbacks take the mantle, which we'll get to.
01:38
Mike Evans, you know, he's probably going to come back.
01:39
We'll have a 12th season with a thousand yards.
01:41
Bucky Irving looks like he's on the cusp of being a superstar running back in the NFL.
01:46
And that defense, as long as Todd Bowles still stays as the head coach, is going to be comparable.
01:50
The only drawback might be if Lee Cohen does move on, which means Baker Mayfield will have
01:54
three separate play callers in three separate years down in Tampa.
01:56
That's something you don't want to have, but you trust that Baker Mayfield would get through it
02:00
the same way he got through losing Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers.
02:03
You take a look at the Atlanta Falcons, who I do think will be in line for a close spot
02:07
here at the Buccaneers, because what we've seen out of Michael Penix looks like he's
02:11
going to be pretty good.
02:12
An entire offseason of him being the starting quarterback, that adds up.
02:15
You have weapons all over the place, which includes Bijan Robinson, the best running
02:18
back in that division.
02:19
And hopefully Raheem Morris gets that defense together.
02:22
But for me, it'd still be the Buccaneers.
02:24
Reclamation project still with the Carolina Panthers.
02:26
You want them to win six, seven, maybe eight games next year and sort of be in contention.
02:31
And then there's the Saints and Salary Capel.
02:33
Don't know who our quarterback is going to be, who our coach is going to be.
02:36
You get the point there.
02:37
So for me, I am buying the Buccaneers once again as a slight favorite in this division,
02:41
which they weren't last year.
02:43
But I do think they'll be slightly ahead of the Falcons, who were supposed to win it this year,
02:46
just being just a little bit behind those Bucs.
02:50
But my friend, that wasn't necessarily the actual wording of the buy or sell question.
02:56
I would buy that the Buccaneers will be a favorite to win the NFC South entering 2025.
03:03
On minus money, I'm going to sell because like you, I still think there will be a ton
03:07
of odds optimism for the Falcons.
03:10
I think the Bucs are going to be plus 125 to win the NFC South and maybe Atlanta at
03:16
plus 200 plus 250 with the Saints and the Panthers, maybe not all that far behind.
03:22
I do think there is going to be some offseason love for Bryce Young,
03:26
reinstalling himself as the face and future of the franchise in Charlotte in what turned out
03:32
to be a successful second half of the first year under Dave Canales, a team that was incredibly
03:39
competitive down the home stretch and looked really efficient offensively with Bryce Young.
03:44
The Saints, I actually think are going to be alongside the Panthers as one of the longer
03:49
prices in this division.
03:50
But I do think there will be a closer distinction than maybe we already perceive between the
03:56
Buccaneers and the Falcons.
03:58
Tampa will be a favorite, but in minus money, I'm not so sure.
04:03
Yeah, but that's not what the question asked.
04:04
The odds on favorite though, buy or sell will be the Buccaneers.
04:07
So yes, we in agreement that it will be the Buccaneers next year.
04:11
Uh-oh, you're not saying that you have to be minus 115 at this point.
04:15
The odds on favorite means you have the best odds to win that division.
04:19
No way.
04:20
Donnie, don't out yourself.
04:22
They'll come to you on social media.
04:24
One of the first things that I learned here hosting at the Spiz Grizz Network was that
04:30
if you say that odds on means minus money.
04:36
That's insides.
04:37
That's just insides.
04:38
You can't have two teams at plus money playing a football game together, right?
04:41
So the odds on favorite in a game would be, yes, the favorite because they are minus money.
04:46
That's the odds on favorite.
04:47
You can't have an odds on favorite there at that point with a, let's just say minus 160,
04:51
Kansas City plus 240.
04:53
Yes, it makes sense there, but you are odds on favorite if you're the favorite in the
04:57
odds market in that said market.
04:59
What about Duke winning a national championship?
05:01
They're plus money.
05:01
They're the odds on favorite to win the championship.
05:04
They have the best odds.
05:05
Nobody else is minus money.
