00:00PAS needs to do more to convince its partners in Perikatan Nasional, especially Bersatu,

00:06that its leaders possess the qualities necessary to serve as Prime Minister, analysts say.

00:11Surah Assemblyman Tengku Fakhrudin Fauzi had said that PAS leaders possessed four key criteria for leading putrajaya

00:19being Malay-Muslim, maintaining strong ties with the monarchy, ensuring fairness and equity,

00:24and demonstrating creativity in generating state revenue.

00:28Mazlan Ali of University Technology Malaysia said while PAS leaders have a fair chance of becoming Prime Minister,

00:34they would still need to gain the confidence of their PN allies.

00:38Meanwhile, Taufiq Yaakob of University Malaya said PAS had to overcome Bersatu's dominance in PN,

00:44especially since Bersatu leaders such as party president Muhyiddin Yassin and his deputy Hamzah Sainuddin

00:50were also considered candidates for Prime Minister.

00:53PAS spiritual leader Hashim Yassin had argued last November that his party was best suited to lead PN

00:59due to its larger number of parliamentary representatives and robust grassroots machinery.

01:04However, Bersatu Vice President Ahmad Faisal Azumu said Muhyiddin remained PN's sole candidate

01:10for the Prime Minister's position at the next general election.
