00:00PKR member Iswardi Morni has been convicted of sedition for insulting the young Libertuan

00:07Agong three years ago.

00:09Sessions Court Judge M M Edwin Paramjyoti said Iswardi had failed to raise a reasonable

00:14doubt to the prosecution's case against him.

00:17However, Paramjyoti adjourned the case to January 23rd for the prosecution and defence

00:22to submit on mitigation and sentencing.

00:25On October 24th, the judge ruled the prosecution had established a prima facie case after calling

00:31nine witnesses.

00:32Iswardi appeared as the sole witness in his defence.

00:35On June 1st, 2021, Iswardi was charged under Section 4, Sub 1A of the Sedition Act, 1948

00:42for statements made on Facebook deemed to be seditious and insulting towards the King.

00:47The government at the time was led by Bukatan Nasional with Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister.

00:53Iswardi faces a fine of up to RM5,000 and imprisonment for up to three years.
