Lions WR Jameson Williams Has Best Career Game Against Bears

Detroit Lions wideout Jameson Williams continues to develop his connection with Jared Goff, has best career game against Chicago Bears.

00:05Everybody was, you know, look at this point in time, you recognize Jared

00:09golf has, you know, an accurate arm and he's got a live arm, he can throw

00:13the football and I think that, uh, people fail to go back and look

00:18at what he did with the Rams.

00:20I just think that, you know, more in line.

00:22I think when people were saying, uh, talking about Jared golf and his ability

00:26to connect with Jameson Williams, really what they were saying is maybe

00:30Jameson Williams is just so fast that it's going to be tough to get in sync

00:34with any quarterback, just because you don't see speed like that too often

00:39where a guy can just turn it on where it doesn't maybe even look like he's

00:42going full speed and can get three yards behind a defensive back.

00:46You just don't see that level of speed, but look, they got the right

00:51look and Jared golf got the football in the air over 55 yards and was able

00:56to connect on a career long past to Jameson Williams, it was a highlight.

00:59It was great.

01:00I think that anytime you can execute it, uh, uh, an explosive play, I just think

01:05that that just helps your offense.

01:06And I do think that hopefully, you know, as the connection continues

01:10to grow, that it can be seen more, you know, obviously it didn't kind

01:14of shake out against the bills, but at the same token, look, you played a

01:18bears defense that was struggling, lack of confidence, they had given up over

01:2230 points, uh, you know, to the Vikings they lost, and you recognize that it

01:27was a team that, you know, definitely fought, but had some struggles as well

01:32in terms of collectively with the new coaching staff and, and, uh, really

01:37shot themselves in the foot quite a bit.

01:39But that's not the problem with the Detroit lions.

01:41That's the problem, uh, for the Chicago bears to try and figure out the final

01:45stretch of the season for them to try and get as many wins as they can.

01:48But for the lions, the connection between Jared Goff and Jamison Williams, that's

01:52going to be, in my opinion, probably the X factor that could determine how far

01:57this football team goes, because look, Jamison Williams is a football player

02:03that you can really, when you look at it, you can build an offense around, you

02:07know, he has that Jamar chase, uh, Justin Jefferson vibe, it's just kind of getting

02:12out of his own way in terms of the excessive celebrations.

02:15And we'll talk about that briefly.

02:17Man, that was a highlight touchdown.

02:19And I think that any explosive play definitely helps this offense.

02:21You just hope to see it more and you hope to see it against

02:23elite competition as well.

02:25Yeah, I think Jamison Williams has had a pretty good year for the lions.

02:29Um, you talked about the fact that now he's up to 890 receiving yards.

02:33Um, so he's only 110 away.

02:35If he gets 55 receiving yards in each of the next two games, he's

02:38going to finish with a thousand.

02:40Like, I think when we talk about expectations for what we wanted his season

02:44to look like at the beginning of the year, I'd say this was a pretty solid show for him.

02:48Um, I know we talked about it before the year, but like that thousand yard, I wasn't

02:52sure that he'd get, um, to a thousand, like maybe 800, whatever he's on pace for a

02:58thousand now, if he can just finish the job these last two games.

03:01And, you know, I, I think that maybe he might be wearing a little bit of a target.

03:05Um, he got that taunting penalty earlier in the game yesterday, but if you talk

03:09about, or if you listen to him talk about it after the game, he said he didn't say

03:12anything.

03:13He just kind of spun the ball.

03:14And it could have been one of those things where after the interaction he had with Tyreek

03:18Stevenson on Thanksgiving, um, that officials were maybe on high alert and they threw the

03:24flag early to kind of set the tone.

03:26I was really impressed with Jamison Williams on Sunday, and it's kind of been a

03:29developing theme where he's become a consistent part of the offense.

03:32He's a deep threat.

03:34Cornerbacks cannot stay in front of him and you can't play one single high safety

03:38because if you do, and the Lions run a bunch of misdirection with other routes, he's

03:42going to get behind the defense and score long touchdowns like he did on Sunday.

03:46And it was his fourth touchdown of over 50 yards this season, which is really just an

03:52incredible statistic.

03:53When you look at the fact that only two other Lions have done that before Calvin

03:57Johnson and Cloyce Vox, like that to me is just another sign of how impactful he can

04:02be moving forward for the Lions.

04:04And you're right.

04:05The playoffs, normally it comes down to one or two different big plays and the Lions with

04:11their defense being so banged up, they're always at risk of giving up touchdowns and

04:16giving up long drives that turn into touchdowns.

04:18And so to have that quick strike answer that Jamison Williams provides with these long

04:23touchdown passes or these short throws that you can give to him and he can make a couple

04:27guys miss and turn it into a 25 yard gain.

04:30The element that he brings to the offense that's super important and it could

04:34definitely be one of the reasons why the Lions are able to steal a playoff game.

04:38You know, if maybe a couple other guys don't end up coming back and the defense is still

04:41banged up. So yeah, I'm looking to Jamison Williams to be a huge part of the Lions

04:48playoff run.
