Manhunt underway after woman shot dead north of Brisbane

A manhunt is underway after the fatal shooting of a young woman in Caboolture, north of Brisbane overnight. Police believe two men are involved in the shooting and are urging those involved to ‘do the right thing’ and come forward.

00:00All quiet today, but last night, the sounds coming from this Kaboolture street terrified

00:08those who call it home.

00:10I heard some, about three or four gunshots, and then a little bit of whimpering, and then

00:18I heard a man yelling out F and C.

00:22Shortly after midnight, police found a 23-year-old local woman unconscious near the footpath.

00:29She'd suffered a bullet wound and couldn't be saved.

00:31Oh, very scary. My nerves are shot.

00:35Investigators spent the day combing the street and talking to residents, hoping their accounts

00:40can help piece together what unfolded. Their theory, she was chased down, then gunned down

00:46by two men she knew who were still at large.

00:49Whilst the public nature of this crime is alarming, police do not believe this to be

00:54a random attack.

00:55Police say the woman didn't live in this neighbourhood and had no links to the house

01:00closest to where she died. How she came to be in this particular area will form part

01:06of their investigation.

01:07Although they haven't zeroed in on any suspects yet, authorities do believe there are people

01:13who know who's responsible.
