Alphabet-owned Waymo announced it will begin testing its autonomous vehicles in Tokyo in early 2025, marking its first step toward international expansion. Partnering with Japan's largest taxi operator and the taxi app GO, Waymo will map key areas in Tokyo. Waymo will use data from manned test drives and U.S.-based closed-course testing to train its AI systems for Japanese driving conditions.
