Do you think your area needs more housing?

Where do you think new homes should be built? How do you feel about building on open spaces or fields to meet housing demands?

00:00I definitely think the area not needs new housing, needs revitalised housing

00:05because there's a lot of empty derelict houses that has a lot of moulding but I

00:09definitely say more East Durham than our houses and places like Houghton, Houghton

00:15has a lot of empty housing that needs refurbished. Yes it needs more housing

00:19but not on Greenbelt, there's loads of industrial estates that have fallen to

00:23bits, there's loads of wasteland that could use rather than use Greenbelt but

00:27as always the council will give permission to use perfectly good land

00:30and use it for housing which is not the right way. I don't know if I have like a

00:35huge opinion on it, I think there's a lot of houses that are very unfairly priced

00:41so it's quite hard to get housing sometimes in the area so I don't know if

00:46there's necessarily a lack of housing or if it's just kind of not priced fairly

00:51for kind of the area because obviously Durham is quite high, like high in terms

00:55of rent and stuff but I think that's sometimes a little bit unfair on people

00:58who are from Durham.
