00:00Australian Peter Ciklomofsky has been named as the new head coach of the national football

00:05team effective January 1st.

00:08The Football Association of Malaysia said Ciklomofsky's first mission would be to ensure

00:13that Harimau Malaya qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.

00:19In a statement, FAM said it also wanted Ciklomofsky to improve the team's FIFA rankings with

00:24the aim of reaching the top 100.

00:27Malaysia is currently ranked 132nd.

00:31Ciklomofsky made his head coaching debut in Japan with Shimizu S. Pulse in the J League

00:36in 2020.

00:38He takes over from Palmar T. Vicente, who was made acting head coach following the early

00:43exit of South Korean Kim Pan-gon in July.

00:47Pan-gon's contract was initially set to expire at the end of 2025, but he resigned in July,

00:53citing personal commitments.
