00:00Tan Cheng Ho has been named interim head coach of Harimau Malaya, replacing Peter Klamowski.
00:07The Football Association of Malaysia announced his appointment today, marking his return to
00:12the national team's set-up.
00:14Cheng Ho, 58, previously led Harimau Malaya from December 2017 to December 2021.
00:21He also served as national assistant coach from 2009 to 2013.
00:27FAM said the appointment was made after taking into account his vast experience, proven track
00:32record and deep understanding of the country's football landscape.
00:36The association hopes Cheng Ho will breathe new life into Harimau Malaya as the team looks
00:41to improve its performance at the Asian and international levels.
00:46Cheng Ho currently serves as Harimau Malaya's technical director.
00:49He previously helped Malaysia win the 2009 Sea Games gold medal and the 2010 AFF Suzuki
00:56Cup as assistant to then-coach K. Raja Gopal.
01:00He also guided the national team to a runner-up finish in the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup as head coach.
01:06On the domestic front, he helped Kedah win the 2015 Premier League title, the 2016 Malaysia
01:12Cup and the 2017 Charity Shield.
01:16Klemowski, whose contract was terminated this month, has since joined English League 2 club
01:21Salford City FC, part owned by former Manchester United stars David Beckham and Gary Neville.
