00:00A 41-year-old trader has been jailed 10 years by the Johor Bahru Sessions Court for causing
00:07serious injury to his third ex-wife, Jahida Nordin alias Sylvester, and leaving her in
00:13a coma three years ago. Judge Fatima Zahari handed down the sentence, effective from the
00:19conviction on Monday after the defence failed to raise any reasonable doubt. The court also
00:25rejected the application by Rosmani Abdul Raouf to postpone the execution of his sentence,
00:31finding no special circumstances to warrant granting the request. On January 17, the same
00:37court ordered Rosmani to defend himself after the prosecution successfully established a
00:43prima facie case. Also present at the proceedings was the victim's sister, Fauzia Nordin, who
00:51appeared to deliver a victim impact statement.

01:54According to the charge sheet, Rosmani intentionally caused serious injuries to Jahida, who was
02:00expecting their first child then, by stomping on her and hitting her on the head, face,
02:06and hands. The accused had committed the offence at around 6am on May 4, 2021, in a flat at
02:14Kampung Aman in Larkin. He was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code, read together
02:20with Section 326A.
