00:08on a protection order that he allegedly handed over to his client.
00:12Adli Zulfadli Zulkifli pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before Magistrate
00:18M S Arunjothi on Thursday.
00:21He was accused of dishonestly handing over a fake ex-party protection order dated August
00:273, 2023, to a 36-year-old woman.
00:31The offence was allegedly committed at the Wilayah Persekutuan Shariah Court Complex
00:37sometime in August last year.
00:40Adli was charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum two years
00:46in jail or fine or both if convicted.
00:50Deputy Public Prosecutor Vivi Asnita Zainal Arifin offered bail at 10,000 ringgit.
00:57However, Adli's lawyer Azlina Abdul Aziz sought a lower bail amount on grounds that
01:03her client had cooperated during the investigation.
01:07She added that her client's father is only a trader and does not have a fixed income
01:11with two children who are still schooling.
01:14Adli, who also mitigated for himself, asked for a bail of less than 5,000 ringgit and
01:20asked the court to consider that he was a lawyer.
01:23DPP Vivi Asnita objected and said the accused was no longer practising based on a confirmation
01:32letter from the Bar Council that the accused's practising certificate was only valid in 2023.
01:40Adli refuted and claimed there was an update on his status as a lawyer.
01:45Magistrate Arun Jothi fixed bail at 3,500 ringgit in one surety and set February 5 for mention.
