00:00Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Answerer at Sussex Newspapers and I'm really
00:06lovely to speak to Jacqueline Hughes today, heading to Panto at Mayfair, one of the greatest
00:12Panto venues around. And it's going to be so special for you because on at least one
00:16occasion your children will be in the audience watching you and being impressed by you.
00:23Hopefully. Yeah, it's going to be so special to have
00:27them in the audience this year. They're actually coming on Christmas Eve, which is going to
00:32be really special, yes. Will that be off-putting or will you be the
00:36supreme professional and put them from your mind? Or will you keep thinking, that's my
00:39two aren't they? Well, I don't know, I'm always the supreme
00:42professional. Yes, but no, it'll be really special. I think,
00:47you know, with the Christmas magic, the Christmas excitement, the children, all children in
00:51the audience, regardless of them being mine, it's such a special time and the gasps and
00:55the oohs and the aahs and the, oh no, he didn't, all that. It's just, it's so much
00:59fun magic, but to have them in the audience this year will be great.
01:02And it comes full circle, you were brought up on Panto, you did Pantos as a girl, into
01:07two years. Yeah, I think it's, it's a real, it's a real
01:11craft Panto and I think you either love it or you hate it, and I absolutely love it.
01:15It's so much. Why do you love it then? What is it?
01:18I think as, you know, as a performer you're just able to go and be a little bit freer,
01:23you know, have fun and everyone on stage is working their socks off. And it's, it's
01:30magic, it's silly, it's fun, everyone's laughing and joining in. It's a real family, family
01:38evening day out, you know, it's magic. Absolutely, and talking of family, the lovely
01:42thing is this is relatively a home gig for you, isn't it?
01:45Yeah, yeah. Not that far away.
01:47No, which is even better, I know, only an hour or so away, so I can get home, get my
01:52school run first. School run, Panto, feet on the sofa, feet up on the sofa.
01:56You're going to be knackered by Christmas, aren't you?
01:58Yeah, but hey, it's mum life, we're always knackered, what's new?
02:04Fantastic, well have a super Christmas, really looking forward to seeing it because it is
02:08one of the great Panto venues. Yeah, thank you so much.
02:12Thank you so much for your time, great to speak to you.
02:13Thank you, and you, bye. Thank you.
