One week after the fatal shooting of Municipal Police Officer Anuska Eversley, and even before three were charged, authorities moved swiftly under Emergency Power Regulations—detaining seven individuals as investigations widen into what officials describe as an organised criminal network.

00:00One week after the killing of Anoushka Eversley at the municipal police station where she worked on April 19, authorities
00:08issued preventative detention orders known as PDOs for seven individuals.
00:13Police say the detainees are linked not only to her murder, but also to the removal of a cache of
00:20firearms and ammunition from the station's repository.
00:23The orders issued on April 26 and published in the official Gazette were followed by criminal charges against three men
00:32from Claxton Bay, Municipal Police Officer Javan Cooper, Nicholas Curtis Ramdas and Kwame Arnold.
00:39They have been jointly charged with murder, possession of firearms and ammunition and robbing Eversley of weapons belonging to the
00:47state.
00:47The remaining four, Shivanand Ramjit of Gasparalo, Nathan Lewis, Josiah Nelson and a minor, are being held under emergency regulations.
00:58They are currently detained at the Eastern Correctional Center while the minor has been remanded to the Youth Training and
01:05Correctional Center.
01:06According to the detention orders, the individuals have been identified as key figures in an organized crime group.
01:13It says they have been credibly linked to the quote-unquote removal of a cache of firearms and ammunition from
01:19a police station, which they intend to imminently distribute.
01:25Officials warn that this poses a grave threat to public safety, with concerns the weapons could be used to fuel
01:31further criminal activity.
01:33In a separate case, a minor from Mova is also being detained under a PDO, described as a stashman for
01:40a criminal network allegedly planning acts of intimidation and retaliatory violence using high-powered firearms.
01:48Arnold Sherry of Production Avenue, Sealots is being detained for being involved in ongoing violent conflict, including planned assassinations and
01:57retaliatory shootings in public.
01:59Giovanni Williams of Bazelon Street, East Rye River is detained under a PDO linked to a plan to imminently carry
02:07out retaliatory shootings against rival gangs in public spaces using high-powered firearms and high-velocity rounds.
02:15And Cairn John of Eastern Corrie Lavent Hill is to be detained at the remanded prison, Golden Grove, for his
02:21operational role within the gang structure.
02:24He is said to be engaged in violent conflict with rival gangs and has expressed intentions to carry out retaliatory
02:31shootings in public spaces.
